For myself....I had a permit for 3 years when I lived in Del Norte County. I NEVER left the house without it. It became so routine that I sometimes forgot to take it off when I returned home.
I was restricted from carrying in the court house and where alcohol was served. Being a non drinker, it was never a problem.
