The Chinese didn't use any of the rifles he has to a large degree during World War II. The K98 comes the closest since the Chinese bought the similar but earlier Standard Modell Mauser

from the Germans until Japan became Germany's ally and told Germany to stop supplying their enemy. The Standard Modell Mauser rifles they bought and the Chinese copy of the Standard Modell Mauser were the standard and most widely used main Chinese battle rifle. For the Chinese soldiers who were lucky enough to have a rifle.

I can recommend this book for World War II history buffs. It covers one of the most overlooked but major theaters of World War II. The Chinese tied down over a million Japanese soldiers (plus their supporting artillery, aircraft, etc.) that otherwise would have been available to fight against the US in the Pacific.

It is mostly pictures, pictures you probably haven't seen anywhere else. There are pictures of Chinese soldiers who went up against the modern Imperial Japanese Army armed only with short swords.
