^^^ without seeing it I cannot say exactly what I would do (sorry for late response) but if it's a creek and not a flooded marsh that happens to have a creek meanduring through then I would do fewer decoys as birds will travel the creek as a flyway. You could probably get away with as few as 2 to a dozen decoys max.

Just be sure that when you toss them out in the AM (pre-shoot time) that you don't throw them to where the decoy weight lines aren't too short and you can retrieve them without water going over your waders (ie: the creek is deep).
