If you are thinking "survival rifle" not only should you concider size but also weight.
A R 10/22 with Tactical Solutions 16-1/2" Aluminium fluted barrel and folding stock would
be a very compact, light weight package. ( Cal legal??) because of OA length, don't know.
You already have R 10/22 so know the strengths/weakness, no learning curve.
I have a R 10/22 TD. Like it alot. But, no light weight either. Would not want to haul it around all day along with a bunch of other stuff on by back.
