Hm, I have to think about the physics... doesn't flush give you a better shot at getting underneath the door with the pry bar (which they are able to do in that video). With a recessed door (especially if deep with a small gap), it seems it would be really hard to get the pry bar underneath the lip of the door. Rather if you managed to pound the pry bar into the gap, wouldn't you be prying directly against the side of the front door panel rather than underneath and up? (I don't really know, have never tried to attack a safe!)
