Another thing is there is no such thing as a "DO IT ALL" pack. I should know because I am as much of a "pack whore" as a gun whore.
Once you get your pack...load it up and hike with it. I mean really load her up and hump it to see if it really fits you. Just because the pack fits joe blow the secret squirrel means that it will fit you comfy.

For classes I prefer a pack along with a LBE/LBV system.
The pack would be fore 3rd line gear and the LBE would be for first line...i.e. stuff to run the gun.
I am a HUGE fan of MOLLE....get a pack with molle so you can add or take off pouches as needed. Customize the way you want your kit orgranized.
