If your going with S&W - take the effort to find a nice pre-lock. They hold their value better. I'd love to find a nice 27-2.

As mentioned I'd stick with the older Colt Troopers. I've shot Trooper III's and I'm not a big fan of the DA trigger. Smiths are much smoother. I have no experience with the older Troopers but if they are anything like Pythons - they do have the best DA trigger of any revolver I've ever touched.

GP100's are solid guns with a decent DA trigger. It was my first revolver I ever owned. I loved it but unfortunately I traded/sold it for something else I had to have at the time. For the money - It's my pick for "best buy" for the money.
