If they are teens on probation, they could something as little as house arrest.
If the judge decides to nail them for burglary, they might get 9 months in a county probation camp.

That is not how the system works.
It rewards teen crime with leniency out of a mistaken belief that leniency promotes some sort of affection for the legal system.
I've seen teens literally get away with not only attempted murder but even murder.
Dude is lucky he got one pistol back.
I would invest in some barrier technology so as to prevent another penetration of his domicile.
Now that the perps know the victim is a gun owner, so do their Homies.
Guess what happens next.
Another crew shows up to find his new guns.
And so it goes . . .
