Default Sanctioned CMP Clinic and Match Program

2011 Update
for BRRC's CMP Program

New rules for CMP Games matches allow for new categories of rifles that will be eligible for scoring by the CMP. Previously, BRRC allowed the use of non-sanctioned rifles at our tournaments but the scorecards where marked not eligible. The new eligible categories are,

Accurized M-1 Garand

A new 2011 eligible category that provides for the use of national match accurized M-1's. This category allows the use of both .30-06 and 7.62x51mm NATO rifles. We all once again have a venue to shoot our glass bedded NM parts M-1's.

Modern Military Rifle

Another new category for 2011 that provides for the use of as-issued military rifles and commercial equivalents such as the popular M-16/AR-15 and M-4 Carbine rifles. Also allows the use of other modern military rifles such as H&K's, M-14/M1A, Sig 556, AR-180, FS2000, et al. This category enables participation by the many rifles owned by shooters new to the high power game. This category does not include the fully accurized U.S. Service Rifle M-16/AR-15. These remain guns that can only be used in EIC tournaments within CMP rules. You may shoot both legally registered California Assault Weapons and California Compliant fixed magazine rifles at BRRC tournaments.
NOTE: You may not use illegal equipment at any time at our club. Extreme violations may be reported to the BATFE.

Optical Sighted Rifle

This is another new category for CMP Games tournaments recognizing the greater use of optical sights by the US military. The 2011 rules indicate they may be used at the discretion of the match director provided shooters in this category are separated from other competitors for scorekeeping purposes. BRRC will be allowing the use of all 1X sights (Aimpoints, EOTechs, et al) and telescopic sight up to 4X (variable power scopes must be set at 4X or less) at our CMP Games matches.

These new participation categories will be available in addition to the Garand, Springfield, Vintage and M-1 Carbine categories.

BRRC competitors fire the 30-shot CMP Course "A" in the match at a distance of 200 yard. Clinic students shoot the same course at 100 yards. You may fire one match for score with the CMP per shooting day. If space allows, you may fire additional matches for practice.

Clinics will continue to emphasize the M-1 Garand. We are evaluating whether to incorporate a SAFS focus on the M-16/AR-15 platform in our clinics.

We look forward to your participation in the BRRC CMP Clinic and Match program.
