I think the Savage Model 69 was Savage/Stevens attempt to get into the police shotgun market. They marketed it as a cheaper alternative to the Ithica M37 and the Remington M870. I have a Stevens Model 77 made by Savage that looks just like your Model 69. I don't know what the differences are between the two models though. I've never seen a Model 69 with a long barrel, so it might just be a Model 77 with a short barrel.

Savage/Stevens guns have never really had the same collector value of the other big gun companies, especially their products from the 1960's and '70's. But they are well made and a good value. My Model 77 only cost $143 out the door at a firearms auction in San Francisco a couple of years ago. The winning bid was $105 and all the rest was auction and DROS fees. It works just as well as my Model 870 and Model 12 shotguns.
