Stigma is a high school thing and ceases to have any meaning the day after you graduate.
It is unfortunate that some people carry it's imagined significance throughout their adult lives.
I spent my last day in high school 30+ years ago. I regularly shoot .22 as well as other calibers and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks.
