Then you are very lucky. The fact that the odds of a violent crime happening to you are low (about 1 in 300 per year), the fact is that those statistics are not likely to be much comfort if you're the 1 in 200 it happens to. The latest FBI Uniform Crime Report data cited about 1.2 million violent crimes in the United States last year - and that's near to a historical low.
