More than fun. Good practical exercise. Gary modeled this one after the field course they do at Raton. It's a little over a mile walk round trip going about 800 yards into the range by foot and walking back out stopping a various firing points to engage designated targets. The targets are of known size but unknown distance and you are only allowed to mil with a scope to estimate range, no lasers. The targets went from 150 yards out to 1,035 yards distant physically on the smallish side. Definitely mid to high level of difficulty even with a well tuned scoped rifle. You get three tries to connect on each target then get ready to pack up so the field group can move on to the next station. All together it's 4-5 hours and one or two boxes of ammo for a good time that will really sharpen one's rifle skills. I'm looking forward to the next one.
