Building my own Tumbler

Im going to build my own tumbler using a 20 gallon plastic drum and I have a few questions and could use some input. How much of the SS media will I need, How fast should the drum turn ? My plan is to build one based on the Thumlers Tumbler design. The plan is to do 1k of 2k at a time. I think I can build it for about $150

I think it would be easier & cost effective to think "cement" mixer style vs the thumbler style.

the Pictured mixer from reviews is a BAD cement mixer, but I am trying to find one used local that I can repair or retrofit for cheap.

My operational weight usage will be much lower than bags of cement.

If the drum is round, you will need to put some baffles inside (like a cement mixer), or everything will just slide along as the drum turns. That is why the Thumblers drum has flat sides.

You probably already knew that, just thought I would post it just in case. ;)

Slice some pvc pipe lenthwise and glue inside the drum for speed bumps.
