Off list handgun

If you could get any off list handgun, what would it be and why?

Nirrad 01-14-2013 4:35 PM

Coonan 357 auto!

Then you could have a lever gun, wheel gun, and semi-auto all on the same diet.

You could do that with a DE 44Mag too. :D

Fatgunman 01-14-2013 4:56 PM

I would like a colt 1911 series 70, M&P 40 no safety, and a M&P 9 no safety.

echopapa 01-14-2013 5:01 PM

HK P30!

Sure, if you can find an FFL with the parts. Which I can't. Shield 9mm (can't find the parts OR the gun, har) or the new XD-S 9mm for me. I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones I'm holding out hope for right now.

stix213 01-14-2013 8:57 PM

Glock 18.....

Otherwise a Sig P938, because I love my P238 and it could use a father figure ;)

The closest SSE shop to me I believe is Valkarie.... which has it's own fail cascade thread, and I haven't found a P938 for PPT local.

$600 for the gun, $5 for the tax stamp, $200 for the Trust.

The $5 tax stamp is for transfer.

When you make it into an AOW for the first time you need to file a form 1 and the fee for that is $200. Let's not forget the stuff you will need to make it an AOW; forward pistol grip for example. You will also need to have someone outside of CA do the work; add in their fee. Next you have to have it shipped to a CA Class 2 SOT for transfer; add in their fee. You now have a $1000; or more, Judge.

As for your $200 NFA Trust you can have it. There have been reports of people using Legal Zum type low cost services only to find that their NFA Trust has not been set up correctly. I've looked around and found the the people that really know how to do these trust are getting upwards of $1000.

6 years ago I would answer: Colt Delta Elite

Now I would answer: Smith and Wesson model 65 or 13 with 3" barrel

Bid on an XDM

So I am the only bidder on a reasonably priced (so far) XDM9:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=326238207

I just realized the XDM is off list - did I just bid on something I can't have? I'm told the hi-cap mags are the issue - but I can easily buy limiters like I did for my PMAGS...

What do you guys think?

Thx

Any off list handgun?
My ridiculous answer would be a G18.

My realistic answer would be more G34 Gen4s.

Zerorye351w 01-18-2013 6:52 AM

Just saw the Colt 1911 USMC (M45), I'm sure that won't make it to the "list".

If you are not exempt from the roster you will need to make the gun roster exempt.

I see you are in the east bay area. Get in touch with Mike @ Tracey Rifle and Pistol if you need the SSE done.

md2bpo 01-18-2013 6:56 AM

Ok thx

The_Tinman 01-18-2013 2:01 PM

Easy, yesterday I ordered a Glock 35 Gen 4.

My next two will be a ruger charger and an LCP...

whipkiller 01-18-2013 3:06 PM

A Beretta 93R would be fun.:D

Hope you're getting hell of a deal because you will have to pay SSE fees on top of the transfer fees to legally take possession of this.

I guess my pick would be for a HK P30 V1(light LEM) since that was what I ended up getting. My 2nd choice was Walther PPQ.

md2bpo 01-18-2013 7:09 PM

Xdm

Good thoughts guys thanks. I let myself be outbid.

Both of those are very nice Rugers!

Charger is fun when you have a bench, and the LCP is just freakin' awesome due to the size and weight.
