Thinking about joining the NRA

so i have been toying with the idea for a while and i think it is a moderate investment not really sure about the return. i wish the had some type of mil discount, i feel like anything other then a life membership is a waist of time. any thoughts?

Numbers matter. The larger the membership the more pull that the NRA has.

Its a must to join them. I would envest :)

Dude, join. If you can't do $300 for a life membership do a year for $25.

I was a member for years and for various reasons let my membership lapse. Shame on me! Whether you agree with every little point about the NRA or not, they are certainly our best chance at having a voice in Washington these days.

I just became a Lifetime member a couple of days ago :)

Now, when I think about spending money on dues, I'll send it to the NRA ILA to help fund the one lobbying effort that I'm in favor of.

Without a doubt, Join. The NRA is gonna take this fight right to Diane Feinstein. I've heard it said the NRA is the largest and most feared lobby group in the nation. This fight is not about guns, this fight is about intrusive government. Once they have disarmed the populace, then they chip away at other things.

For the longest time i thought the NRA wasn't doing anything for our 2A rights here in california. Since then, i have learned about all the different ways that they lobby, as well as realized how they are demonized for wanting to protect those rights. "Blood on their hands" and whatnot.

But what is easier to disagree with? 4 million NRA members, or 40 Million NRA members? The membership numbers prove that the NRA isn't just fringe lunatics, but neighbors, friends, family and lawful firearm enthusiasts/supporters.

There isn't much they can do for a state populated by millions of low-information voters. NRA is never going to help much here, but that's OUR fault, not theirs.

Who will be a bigger help here is Second Amendment Foundation Ever hear of Alan Gura, Heller v. DC, MacDonald v. Chicago, etc? The courts are where "shall issue" is going to get fixed and where nutcase Legislatures like Sacramento will run into a brick wall.

Absolutely join and support the NRA because they're leading the legislative fight nationally. But they can never "fix" California. SAF has a far better chance of helping us here. Life membership is $150 Throw them a few bucks, help fund the court victories that are our only chance.

I personally would never join the NRA, but I'm a big fan of the SAF.

My problem with the NRA is that they do a lot of lobbying for conservative issues that I oppose in addition to gun-related issues. As an extreme (for the US anyway) liberal and gun owner, I'd prefer my gun issues separated from conservative issues.
