Anyone have a line on off duty work around LA?

Need to make some extra cash for a while and I am looking for anyone who knows someone needing off duty cops. I have had U.S. State Department Diplomat Protection training as well as 10 years as an LEO. Shoot me a PM if anyone knows anything.

The armoured car companies usually are always looking for of duty LEOs... Brinks, Malca Amit etc...

I don't have a line on any work for you, but start checking with "dignitary" and "VIP" protection companies, especially around the Los Angeles/Hollywood area. THey love hiring off duty LEO's. Most of them pay pretty good from what I understand.

If you are interested, I have a friend who supplies police vehicles as well as police actors to the movie industry. Most of the people he uses are current/retired LE. Let me know. Pay is usually on the scale you are looking for.

Since nobody has thrown this out yet but do you know you need a guard card and if you want to be armed a firearms card too?

Otherwise have you heard of these guys - http://www.offdutyofficers.com/

BTW... have you thought of putting a post in "Jobs Wanted/Offered, Services Offered/Wanted"?

That is what I made in 1991 on off duty gigs and it usually was cash. The economy really sucks and gigs I did 20 years ago now offer $15 if that and they want to 10-99 you too.

My advice for brother/sister officers is live with in your means.

Whatever you do, do not let a part time gig get you fired from the day job.

I can tell you horror stories all day. Do you still have the passion to be a policeman or is all about the money today?

BSIS Registration

For your information: If you are a full time sworn law enforcement officer, you can qualifiy for a guard card by just filling out the application, and sending it, a copy of LE ID and a check to BSIS. You may start working as soon as the letter is in the mail.

For a gun card the rules are the same, fill out the application, write a check for the correct amount, a copy of your ID, and mail it to BSIS. Again, you may start working armed as soon as the application is mailed.

Any questions, go to BSIS website (under Consumer Affairs) and look at the LE question and answers.

I have returned PM's, sorry for the delay, was not notified of waiting messages. As far as I know, from what I have seen, 99% of the time you get paid when the job is completed as far as side work for my friend and his movie stuff. If you have your own uniforms it sometimes pays more. If I can be of further help feel free to message me.
