Some ranges allow bi-metal or steel core rounds during the rain season. Not sure about Angeles though, haven't been there in awhile.

buy some cheapo 7.62 bullets and load some mexican match ammo

I heard that match ammo attracts a magnet fwiw.

I saw a guy shooting steel core at angeles one wed night. It sparked up a storm when it roccocheted. Pretty cool looking actually.
