symaxwell 10-22-2012 7:46 PM

I'm also interested. Also where would you recommend I purchase an 80%? Are they all similar quality wise?

hopefully someone will chime in. I have no clue about paperweights and for some reason quentin defense paperweights are not always do-able it seems like?

srt8eight 10-23-2012 10:38 AM

Count me in I would be interested to attend for sure.

razorduc 10-24-2012 10:32 AM

I have 2 TMs, so I'd be down for build party in LA or OC.

engi 10-24-2012 10:41 AM

Interested as well.

I have a good supply of TM 80% lowers for anyone that wants them custom engraved before milling.

Dark Mod 10-24-2012 11:44 AM

super interested in an OC build party

couch 10-25-2012 12:37 PM

I know I've said it before, but I'm now finally about two weeks out from being able to host small AR mill parties at my shop.

Long delays from moving into the new shop space and getting the mill retrofit with flood coolant. Simply need to clean the shop up now and get things in order.

CNC mill for the FCG pocket and manual mill for the three holes, with a TM Jig.

deviljon 10-26-2012 6:55 AM

I don't mind making the trip to see Roccobro, he really does great work and is one knowledgeable guy. But I'm in the OC way more and it would be nice to have a closer option considering the number of 80% lowers that I've completed.

JaMail 10-26-2012 7:08 AM

i went to san diego from long beach, that was super painless and easy. nice guys to deal with and you can stop at stone brewery on the way back.

Solid Foundation 10-28-2012 11:54 PM

I've read Ares can't accommodate the QD 80%s
I'm down for OC if someone can set it up :)

mAd mOrdigan 10-29-2012 12:10 AM

yeah lemme know as well. got 1 or two friends that will come along for the fun

shooterbill 10-29-2012 8:14 AM

Ares is setup for TM AR15 and AR10. $65 to use their machines. The last party in San Diego were doing QD lowers.

65 - call them - they cant do all types of lowers.

razorduc 11-06-2012 9:18 AM

@Couch - Let me know too. I'd like to get my 2x 80% completed ASAP and send for anodizing before the end of the year.

gardalos 11-06-2012 9:50 AM

@razorduc where can you send the 80%ers to get anodized??

razorduc 11-07-2012 3:57 PM

Check out Danco.net. They have a shop in Arcadia which another Calgunner has used for 80% and 100% lowers. They also have Ontario and somewhere else, but not sure what their policies are.

Very slow on email so suggest to call.

Otherwise A to Z in San Diego (only for 80% unless you want to wait) and someone else down that area too. Their minimum batches are a bit higher ($90).

deviljon 11-07-2012 7:28 PM

How much does danco charge per lower annodized?

razorduc 11-08-2012 10:08 AM

Wasn't directly quoted from Danco, but was told to expect about $105 OTD for 2 lowers.

Was also told Arcadia has a lockup, so can leave the 100% over night until they can anodize it and you can pick it up. This is all hearsay until I remember to actually call them during the day.

htfan 11-10-2012 11:53 AM

I'm also very interested in an OC build party for 80% paperweights.

Riksk 11-12-2012 9:47 PM

I would be interested in an 80% party in OC as well.

Thanks,
Rik

Unless they have an FFL they can't legally keep possesion of the completed lowers without the owner being present during the entire process. It has nothing to do with having a safe place to store them.

Goondog 11-13-2012 5:13 PM

I was thinking of holding one in San Diego in a couple weeks, but I still have to build the fixtures. I was going to do them on a 4th axis so it would do the pocket and pin holes in one setup.

teh.killer.of.zombies 11-14-2012 10:06 AM

I am setting up to do 80% builds as well. This will take place in the Antelope Valley area. I will be setup in January, also I will do the anodizing as well.

Great to hear. Please keep us posted. My Dad is in the area and we have a few 80% lowers to complete.

Will this be CNC? We were going to run them on our manual mill.

fifT7 11-15-2012 6:22 PM

I'm interested in the AV run as well. Let me know I'm in the scv

couch 11-16-2012 2:37 PM

Finally ordered the replacement parts for my mill today. Should have it up and running next week.
