Galt is in Sacramento County. See http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=352779; don't bother applying to the city.

Librarian from my understanding the Chief of Galt Police is issuing CCW's as he is concerned for his citizens. But only covers those within the city limits.

Nothing on Galt PD's website about it. It would be surprising if Galt were to start issuing.

Carsgunsandchics 08-24-2012 4:10 PM

Two people have taken a class recently out at Sac Valley to obtain their CCW's and in both of their classes there were residents of the city of Galt. And a linky for our thread. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=555303

Old_Bald_Guy 08-24-2012 4:16 PM

Cool. I wonder why Galt PD doesn't put the info on their website.

762cavalier 08-24-2012 4:22 PM

Galt PD is currently issuing to residents of Galt. This is a new thing but it is happening. If you are a resident of the City of Galt go to Police Dept to find out more info. they have not yet updated their website to reflect this change.

Oh, I Did Not Know That - very cool! In that case, Galt PD would be better these days than Sac Sheriff - less administrative overhead, to put it politely.

Galt PD is restricted by state law to only City of Galt residents, so that's expected.

Thanks for the update!

Carsgunsandchics 08-24-2012 5:28 PM

And you can actually get an appointment this year unlike Sac County Sheriff who has locked their appointment book. Which seems quite unfair to law abiding citizens. And I believe Galt requires half the class time of Sac County.

Old_Bald_Guy 08-24-2012 10:48 PM

Anyway, it's cool that Galt is doing this. That makes two cities in Sac County that issue.

Sir Stunna Lot 08-25-2012 1:31 AM

whats the other city?

Old_Bald_Guy 08-25-2012 7:22 AM

Folsom, as far as I know. I'm not sure, though. I believe at one time they were, anyway. I could be wrong.

b_madeiros 08-27-2012 10:56 AM

thanks for the info

thanks guys. I am very thankful to u all. I do live within tye city. I will post back results.

Sacramento, Folsom and Galt all issue. Granted Sacramento is very strict. IIRC Citrus Heights was looking seriously at it but not sure if they ever actually got in the game or not.

As of October 1 Galt has stopped accepting applications. I was fortunate to get my in. A update as of now I have received my letter to pay for the DOJ background.

b_madeiros 11-05-2012 8:03 PM

1wk

becxltoo984 11-06-2012 12:59 AM

A good friend just had his Galt permit issued a couple of weeks ago. The process took a couple of months.

ccwtrainer here on Calguns.

Wes and Joe are great guys and put on an informative class. I took their class at Sac Valley.

b_madeiros 12-05-2012 7:46 PM

Yeah Wes has been very helpful. I have talked to him multiple times for information but unfortunately I work weekends and all his classes are sat-sun once a month. Galt PD said I need to submit my cert within the month

becxltoo984 12-05-2012 10:29 PM

To correct this statement, I offer CCW courses 3 times per month. Twice on weekends and once on weekdays. Look for the light green dates on my calendar: http://lfiguns.com/index.php?option=...h=01&year=2013.
