New LW-15 Polymer Lower & Safety Engagement

With the hammer in the uncocked or fired position, I can put the selector on 'Safe'. Is this normal for this lower?

welchy 03-06-2012 5:28 PM

That is normal for every lower.

I think you mean that this is normal for every LW-15 polymer lower, don't you?

This certainly is not normal for every AR lower.

welchy 03-07-2012 4:45 PM

It most certainly is.

My CMMG lower does not do this. You have a lower that, with the hammer in the uncocked position, the selector can be placed on Safe?

What LPK do you have?

welchy 03-07-2012 6:53 PM

Oh shyte. Reading fail on my part. You are absolutely correct sir. My apologies. This is most definitely not normal.

SR-60 03-07-2012 6:59 PM

Phew...for a second there, I thought my CMMG was defective.

I only have one LW-15 lower so I just want to make sure that it is not defective. Thanks.

welchy 03-07-2012 7:43 PM

Have you posted this in centerfire? I am interested to find out if this is normal for the lw-15.

outkastcrl 03-09-2012 1:24 AM

I got me an lw-15 too. Still have to pick it up but it was one of the initial batches from Jan/feb so I think I'll have all the symptoms that have been expressed but not addressed by the mfg yet. I hope the initial purchasees are not s.o.l.

My plumcrazy lower does the same. It's been fine since aswell.

I noticed that when i first got mine as well

i have both the lw-15 and plum crazy
both going into safe position with hammer not cocked, where a normal ar does not operate this way

as said here
http://www.shootingillustrated.com/i...ense-ar-lower/
under the part for function check on installing the safety
"Function Check"
"Turn the safety to make sure it rotates to the safe and off positions and that it locks into those positions.
Note that the hammer must be cocked for the safety to move to the on position.""

It is normal for the LW-15 to be placed on safe with the hammer down (fired/un-cocked) position.
Hmm I kinda want a poly lower now. Save about 8oz almost.

It is normal for all the Plumcrazy brand lowers to do this, and the first 2000 LW-15 lowers to do this.

We have since created new parts molds and will be shooting out a release this week once we have a better time frame so that anyone with the first 2000 serial numbers will be sent out an upgrade kit.

We will also have these kits available for purchase at cost for anyone who owns a Plumcrazy lower.

More details to come!

outkastcrl 03-13-2012 10:37 AM

Thanks for the response Guido. It provides a sense of assurance for those including my self who are in theb batch of 2000. I will be waiting for further instructions to obtain my upgrade kit.

Guido,

Can you help me? I'm looking to purchase the LW-15 from your website but I'm having a hard time finding a local FFL dealer in my area to accept the shipment and do the paperwork. I looked at your FFL locator on your website and didn't find anyone near my town. (Stockton CA 95212) Do you have any ideas?

Thanks!

outkastcrl 03-14-2012 9:23 AM

Manteca has a couple of ffl's you can even inquire at a new tact shop in manteca, elite arms and supply in main street.

Outkastcrl,

Thanks for the response. It seems every time I ask they always say NO but I'll give them a try and see what they say. Is there a place you can search online for FFL dealers in Manteca? How do I know they can be trusted?

outkastcrl 03-14-2012 4:28 PM

Gunbroker has a much larger database of FFL's you can search by zipcode, you might want to try there to find a dealer that will accept it.

PhoS 04-02-2012 10:32 AM

Any updates on the updated pins? My pivot detent evacuated itself yesterday.

NewFrontierArmory 04-02-2012 4:31 PM

Yes, if you bought it directly from us, you can go on our website in the LW15 section and get your upgrade kit (serial numbers 1-2000) but if you bought it from one of our dealers, their kits went out today, so you can get it from them in a few days.

deviljon 04-04-2012 1:47 PM

I picked my complete lower up from Rifle Gear yesterday. Unfortunately, they didn't have any of the replacement parts in yet. Since they don't deal with warranty related issues, they won't mail the parts out to me once they get them. I have to actually go in and pick it up. To be honest I'd rather just order the set from NFA for $5.

Also, how does one replace the pistol grip? Looking inside the standard grip, it isn't as simple as using a flathead screwdriver. If anyone knows how, please share. Thanks!

SR-60 04-04-2012 8:40 PM

I used a 3/16" T-handle hex wrench. A flat head screw driver of that size may work too.

SemperFlexibus 07-17-2012 9:28 PM

anyone been successful with switching the safety from left to right hand size with the lw-15?

STR8HEATED 11-12-2012 8:15 PM

Just picked up my lw15 today and my safety will not engage in the decock mode. Its an early model serial #. Guess I got lucky. Bushmaster upper fits fine with no filing or anything. So far so good, next test will be taking to the range.
