Is this only 'as-issued' or is there an open classification as well? IE: a Mauser in military config. in original caliber, but with an aperture rear sight. (avatar)

I shoot in open at the Sac military rifle match with this particular gun. Their matches are pretty relaxed for the most part. Good bunch of guys (and gals!).

Thanks for posting this. Would love to come out and give it a shot in April.

Sounds fun, hope to make it out to one of these.

Are the bolt gun matches multi-position as well?

Would love to go to one with an Enfield.

What are 5v targets and do I need any specialized equipment? How many rounds should I bring?

Never been to any match...FWIW.

Thanks.

Yes, sounds awesome. What he said as far as questions go.

ok.. to answer the previous questions..

The Garand AND Boltgun matches are shot from positions

No specialized equipment is needed.. but I would try to bring a set of binoculars if you have them to see the shot markers.

58 rounds are the minimum needed but it is always adviseable to bring at least 10-20 rounds more incase you have an alibi.

5V targets are the old military targets last used in the early 60's. it has a 12" aiming black.

rojocorsa 12-26-2011 11:31 AM

Which positions are these matches shot from? Is it more than just prone?

If you did not see at the top of this thread, the discription of these matches, you might need to have a doctor check your eyes.

3 position, no sling usage allowed in offhand. Can interchange sitting with kneeling...NRA-HP can correct me if not.

I will most make it to at least one or two of these. Need to practice rapid sitting with the Mauser beforehand though. :p

I will get a few range days in on the garand before the match this time. :62:

Hmmm, regarding Chabot on the 22nd, I learned that there is also an Appleseed Event at that time.

When is the deadline for that?

nitewing117 07-31-2012 5:36 PM

for the military boltgun match, are there any ammo limitations? e.g., factory loads only, etc.

Since the CMP is not allotting ammo for their matches at Camp Perry anymore and allowing any ammo.. I'm now allowing any ammo for the Garand AND Military Boltgun matches.. the ONLY restriction is if you use a club Garand you must use our ammo.
