Shooters are Eaters! No surprise there and this shoot n eat is a greatly way to Give Thanks for our Heritage and Civil Rights, we Gather, we Shoot, we Speak (well we Bul*sh*t) and we Eat!
Here is part of the menu, We need FOOD! Its kind of like a Pot Luck but not completely.

Quote:

Menu:
We will have 6 turkeys and 6 hams donated to us.
We need some help cooking and delivering this food.
We will need BBQ’s and a Microwave :) or 2!!
We will need SIDES!! Mash Potatoes n Gravy, Sweet Potatoes, Veggies, Stuffing, Mac n Cheese, Chili beans, Chili, Beans and Rice, Chicken and other and stuff “ASK if You have a thought”!! What is your specialty? No Chips, store bought cookies (Homemade cookies, cakes, pies are awesome and ok to bring)
BUT! You need to Let me know!!
IF you are not a cooking person (me for instance) you can still bring something, here are suggestions.
*Bucket of KFC
*Juan Pollo chicken - http://juanpollo.com/locations/ you can get 3 cut chickens for $22 dollars with sides and they make great chicken.
*La Tolteca - http://latoltecaazusa.com/ you can get Beans, Rice, Green Chili and tons more
*La Fonda Don Chon - http://www.fondadonchon.com/menu.html Talk to Jimmy and get a tray of Enchiladas  or other excellent stuff.
*Get food from your Favorite food joint, just make sure it can feed 10 people and you tell me what it is you’re bringing.
*Bring Your Own Drinks!
So One Last Time, If You Want To Eat From the Pot Luck, You Need to Contribute.
If you bring a party of 10 then you need to bring enough food to feed your party and others.

I am hoping my grapefruit tree still has exploding yellow targets on it :43:

pennys dad 09-19-2011 6:19 PM

Someone is bringing curry, what is a good side dish?

pennys dad 09-19-2011 7:04 PM

So our challenge shoot will be 2 stages, 25 various types of target per stage, that must be reset after each shoot, it will be timed, you will get 30 rounds and a penalty for leaving a target. this will be an individual fun challenge we will run from opening to noon and hand out prizes.

ill be happy to help RSO for this or the main firing line. I can bring some more of those chicken kabobs (we missed you @ the zombie shoot). Maybe I make them spicey and add a kick to the chicken :D

thanks again, PenysDad

Mark, check you email

BlueDog333 09-20-2011 1:52 PM

Will we need to pre register at all? And will there be a small bore sillouete type challenge range? I would love to do somthing like that since I mainly shoot .22s. Though I might be able to borrow a shotgun from Dad for this event.

pennys dad 09-20-2011 4:38 PM

Our Challenge Ranges will be 100% small bore/pistol caliber ready.
We will set up a prereg or at least try to.

Grilled Vegetables: Spinach, Mushrooms and Onions.

pennys dad 09-22-2011 8:06 PM

Each bay has a clipboard with a sheet of paper describing the course of fire (including the number of targets, number of shots allowed, etc.)

So when each group gets to the stage, they can all read the course of fire and ask questions before getting started. After each shooter the group will need to help reset/repair targets to make things move fast.

Thank You Ken

Well, because we shoot tactical stages, eat turkey, and it's in November.

realmswalker 09-23-2011 1:39 PM

Wanted to add a quick blurb:

Quote:

* We will have a person offering to sharpen knives for $2 each, half of proceeds to go to CGF. The only ones that can't be sharpened for now are the ones with small serrations like steak knives. Pocket knives and/or utility knives are good to go.

Would a hardened steel M4 bayonet be able to be sharpened well by that gentleman? I could only get the tip somewhat sharp with my sharpening stone, it's a bear to sharpen.

I will ask and get back with you when I have a response.

morfeeis 09-29-2011 1:50 PM

is there anyway for a guy to just come and shoot with other Calgunners and not take part in the contest?

Howie44 09-29-2011 2:50 PM

Yes, like last year there will be a general shooting line.

pennys dad 09-29-2011 6:41 PM

Hey if we wanted to try and pull this off in Sacto and Norcal, what outdoor range would we try and who has a great contact in that range? Rush, Rush, Rush folks clock is ticking and we got Calgunners and CRPA members to feed and meet and shoot with.

Are the stages going to be handgun or rifle?

Howie44 10-05-2011 4:30 AM

Unless somebody tells me different, I'm building targets to accommodate pistol and .22lr on one lane, and centerfire rifle/carbine on the other.

Super cool. I edited my dumb question about the contest. It was answered above. So it sounds like one lane is rifle contest and other is pistol? I am in and hopefully get family to go.

There will be 2 challenge bay's. One bay is for pistol/rimfire and the other bay is for centerfire/carbine.

^ 30rds each? Do we know at what distance?
