Lets see some Handgun caliber Carbine/Rifles and Lever Action Rifles

Stan "BigBamBoo" did an outstanding job with his side charging 9mm rifle. His rifle looks and functions great.

I bet there are other calguns member that has rifles that shoots pistol cartridges besides Stan and I. So please take pictures and tell us about it :)

My long term buddy purchased a HK USC45 awhile back. Ever since then, that .45acp rifle got me thinking something similar. About a month ago, I check out riflegears website and can't stop noticing a CMMG dedicated 9mm AR. So three weeks ago, my girl and I drove there. And I ended up DROSing that stripped lower. I took a couple of days researching parts. There seems to be four different 9mm twist configurations:
CMMG and RRA 1:10"
YHM 1:14"
Model 1 Sales 1:15"
and Olympic Arms 1:16"
I ended up purchasing a Model 1 upper for it's twist rate.

CMMG 9mm lower,
Model 1 Sales 9mm upper with BCG "non ramped" and parts kit.
"note" Model 1 sales parts kit doesn't use mil-spec parts!
DPMS stock,
RRA hammer and buffer,
Troy MRF-C, and a Vortex red dot with ADM.

Here's mine:

CMMG 9mm dedicated lower
C Products magazines
RRA "midlength" upper, w/non-ramped bolt
RRA hammer
KNS anti-walk/anti-rotation pins
LMT rear A4 sight

Since that picture I slapped on a Magpul enhanced buttpad, Smith Vortex flash hider and Surefire midlength rail system. You can see what it looks like now in this picture kinda (it's the one on the left):

C Products 9mm magazine follower modifications:
http://i335.photobucket.com/albums/m...1101091959.jpg

The only thing left to do is swap over to a standard hammer, get rid of the KNS pins, get a ramped bolt (from BigBamBoo!) and a Spikes spring spacer. Then I will consider my 9mm "done".

Even though I don't consider it "done", it does run like an absolute champ. I *REALLY* want to do the side-charging upper replacement. One of these days....

Excuse my noobiness, but why would someone want an AR in 9mm?

We have similar taste :D. My BCG isn't ramped too. Did you have to modify your CMMG lower? I had to shave off a few .0001" on the bolt catch to get the BCG to slide back.

Cheap and easy to find 9mm....Part of the reason it's so much fun at the range. ;)

Yup. I pulled the bolt catch and removed a small amount of metal from the rear of it so that it would sit higher when actuated.

With the C products follower modifications I've made I now have 100% positive bolt-lock in the rear position after every last round.

that C9 (pistol)is now pink and belongs to my wife, but the 995 now has new optics and is 800 rounds old and going strong. it's funny i bought the c9 cause it used the same mags as the 995.

Out of curiosity, why would you get rid of the KNS pins? Aren't they a benefit even with a ramped bolt?

savasyn 03-13-2011 4:11 PM

Here's mine in its original configuration on my reg'd lower. I've since purchased a CMMG dedicated 9mm lower and am working out problems with the magazines. The UZI mags I was using in this configuration were flawless.

Thanks....Nothin too special though. Just an inexpensive Hi Point 995 encased in an ATI stock. The barrel shroud is a piece of metal I got from someone who had it set up to look like a real can on a handgun. I just took it and drilled it out for looks. The muzzle break is a semi custom piece made by a guy who used to make parts for HP's. He's also the one I got the aluminum trigger from.
Other than all of that, it's basically stock. Aside from some minor polishing I did to the inards here and there. ;)

By the way, I don't suppose that sweet Kriss in your avatar is yours?

Pointless. Waste of weight. Can sell them for a few bucks for another part.

KNS pins really only benefit two situations:
1.) Saving the holes on FA receivers (And KNS even makes one for the auto-sear)
2.) 9mm's without ramped bolts.

What happens in a 9mm without ramped bolt is the point of contact between bolt and hammer during cocking is very low and close to the hammer pin, which exerts a lot more rearward energy before the hammer starts to rotate out of the way and leads to egging out the hammer pin hole. This is what the KNS pins prevent.

Once you've got a ramped bolt, the point of contact is moved up towards the top of the hammer by almost a quarter of an inch, so the hammer wants to naturally move back and rotate out of the way, avoiding the egging problem entirely.

KNS pins in a standard 5.56, or 9mm with ramped bolt really bring no benefit to the table whatsoever (except for people who install their hammer spring backwards). My 9mm is the only gun I have them on, due to the non-ramped bolt. All my other guns have stock springs and pins.

Once you ramp the bolt, there is just no more need for the KNS pins.

I still think it looks sharp.

It was one of 3 that I owned. I have sold a couple of them to fund another project plus the new updated KRISS K10 is coming out so I will be getting rid of all the Super Vs.

Thanks, I like it too. Just looks evil to me. ;) lol

So you had 3 of the V's!?!?
I've only shot one at the range one time and I fell in love with it!
I thought it was cool as heck when I first saw one. But once I shot one and felt the almost non existent recoil it was TRUE LOVE! lol
I just need to pull 3 grand out of my tight wallet and buy one now. ;)

So what's the "K10"? I haven't heard anything about that?

Good point, I think majority of shooters install KNS pins for looks. I'll admit to that.

I saw these that shoots .45acp at Turners. They look and feel very convincing. Aren't they also in Modern Warfare two?

Capita159 03-16-2011 7:52 AM

Photos are updated on top.

I took my new 9mm AR to Angeles over the weekends. And we were hitting 200 yards irons. WTF?, I never thought that it was possible with a 9mm and also there wasn't much of a bullet drop from 50-100-200yards.

At $10.00 a box of 50 - 9mm verse $6.00 a box of 20 - 5.56, I rather shoot the 9mm all day long. Also the best part is being able to shoot in most indoor ranges, which means going shooting after work and no windage in the way :)

Looks like the cmmg dedicated lower is the way to go. Anyone have luck w/ a magwell adapted setup? I've got a lower not being used for anything and I see a dedicated is over $200 not counting tax/fees so trying to avoid paying again.

hahn precision adapters are fantastic. i've done 2 builds with them and they work flawlessly.

What magazines do you use in yours and besides an upper what parts did you need to complete it? I've got a lower with AR lpk installed and stock. I'm seriously looking at an RRA upper and seeing how much to put that together.

EDIT: NM your sig had link to your build.

Ive had decent luck with the Cprod plastic adapter, but really like my Hahn and RRA magwell adapters. I moved the Cprod adapter to my 9mm AR pistol build for weight savings.

Get a decent 9mm in a rifle or carbine sized barrel and you can achieve some pretty impressive speeds. I tend to reload 105gr for my old Camp-9, and it's pretty impressive out to 150ish. Beyond that the sights aren't really up to the task (or my eyes aren't).

Old Marlin is still one of my all time favorite plinkers.

I currently got my eyes on a Winchester 94 .44 magnum, but might have to tune down to a Marlin if funds don't permits.

I wanted it for a companion to my CZ52. Still have a few magazine issues. Making a PPS43 mag work/fit in a AR but hope to have that resolved Early next month. especially the ten rounders.
