Seems I have one box of the Champion .45 lot number WM5233. Glad I saw this before my trip to the range this coming weekend. Thanks for posting!

Has anyone had a batch of the Federal .45acp on recall and have at least been contacted if not had their ammo replaced? I had contacted them over a week to a week and a half ago and except for a message left on my voice mail a few days after my initial contact message, which I responded back to a number of times, have not heard back from them since. I never received a direct line for contact but a voicemail or through filling out info through their website, both of which I have done. Granted that this is my first experience dealing with Federal or recalled ammo so not sure what to expect on how long it will take until I actually have this recalled batch replaced…

Thanks everyone! I have 4 boxes, I'll call 'em on Monday & start what looks like a long drawn out process.... Bill

Has Wal Mart pulled the defective ones off the shelf? I saw a dozen Federal .45 Auto boxes on their shelf 3 weeks ago but I didn't buy it cause of the recall.

32blownhemi 02-28-2011 8:42 PM

I bought mine at Wal-Mart on Feb. 6th. which was 22 days ago.... And I saw some on the shelf at a different Wal-Mart just the other day but I have no idea what lot number it was....

zaku65 03-06-2011 8:08 PM

I have the same exact isssue. I bought some from Walmart earlier this year but there is no lot number on them....WTF

32blownhemi 04-10-2011 7:33 PM

I just returned the recalled ammo that I had to Wal-Mart. I bought it at Wal-Mart but not the one I returned it to.. They did some checking & found out that it was recalled. If I were to do it again I'd print up the recall notice from Federal/American Eagle to speed up the return process..... Bill

That is a scary thought. It makes sense but you dont really think your ammo may be bad. Moreso the people that do not visit our forum, how do they know. Thanks for the info, need to chk my hd ammo

Pacifik 04-18-2011 7:25 PM

For the recall, if you have brass primers you're fine, if they're silver you need to check. Also some boxes have the lot number on the flaps that seal the box.

kf6tac 05-02-2011 8:16 PM

Aside from the color of the primer, any way to check based on the actual ammo itself? I bought a 250 round bulk pack of Federal AE back around Christmas time, but because it was bulk packed, I dumped the loose rounds right into an ammo can and recycled the carton.

Also, sorry for joining this party late... haven't been on the forum regularly in awhile.

Thank you for posting and updating this.
I just purchased 2 boxes at a our local Wal Mart on 08/04.
Looks like the recall notice is posted 02/22 - this stuff should not have been on the shelf. I'll be returning it immediately.

vincnet11 10-04-2011 12:10 AM

I think the issue has been corrected by now. I've been using these Federal for about 2 range trips now and my guns are still in one piece. If your buying from Wal Mart their ammo especially 45 ACP sell very quick, they should get new stock often.

I would however avoid buying these from a local gunstore or range thinking that its an older lot and they have and haven't restocked new boxes.
