AK Build Party/Bay Area DEC 5, 2009!!SPOTS CLAIMED>>WAITING LIST!!

Hosting a build party @ my place

where-Antioch,CA
what-AK's
when-December 5, 2009 from 8:30am-6:00pm---my girls pretty upset about the early start time :D
why-because we're addicted

It will be indoor/outdoor. I have an outside stand around heater and a fireplace if its cold. The last time it rained on this date was in 2003(weather history)and that was drizzle.

UPDATE:
I am cutting off the main list. Spots are claimed. there is a waiting list. I am still waiting for payment from some folks. If anyone bails, I will let those on the waiting list know. Thankyou
COST-

$25 per person building, that includes the food&drink.
$5 for spectators includes food&drink

Not to rub anyone the wrong way, but if you want to be a larger doner to help purchase a couple build specific tools ,that will benefit everyone, it would be awsome.** I am going to work on having one of these every month or at least every other month. With that being said if you donate $20 on top of your cost for this build, the next bp I host you will have free admittance+food.

Reserve your spot! It will be held with paid dues. There should be plenty room, but why risk it.

PM me for where to send payment

I hear paypal is anti-gun. For that I discourage it, but if you must, add $5 to your total to cover fees(unless donating to tool fund). You may "pm" me for payment details.

I will have name tags with your handle on it for those who paid and are coming.

Thanks guys!

Lets see what people can bring for the bp

maybe another flat bending jig

Alexthewelder 10-28-2009 5:17 PM

I tried sending out a mass pm to those of you interested but after soaring thru them I noticed after sending the last one I was supposed to wait 30 secs b4 sending a new one. lol So I prob. didnt even get them out to every1. oh well. heres the new thread.

50BMGBOB 10-30-2009 12:26 AM

I hope my AK comes out as nice as the one you built and had at the range today. 36 Day away.

Alexthewelder 10-30-2009 6:37 AM

Judging by some of your projects i'm sure it will be even better! Thanks again for lettin me shoot the 50cal! When I picked up my lady it still felt as if my face had been punched earlier in the day lol nice meeting ya.

Lifeofahero 10-31-2009 11:24 AM

Hey I'd like to attend but won't know for sure if I'm free until mid/late Nov. I've got a dremel w/ grinding and cutoff bits. I'll post back if I can make it when the future gets a little clearer. If I'm free, I'll bring a friend to watch (build if I can talk him into it).

Alexthewelder 10-31-2009 3:31 PM

Fahreed lol! What the heck! Your all the way in India! Get off of calguns and have some fun:D well I hope your wife gets the day off so u can make it. Wont be a party without ya. Oh and while your there get acustomed to your food! I couldn't believe that you don't like it. Lol

416stroker 10-31-2009 10:04 PM

Dose any one thats going have a headspacing Gauges? If not im going to have to buy some from akbuilder. My kit has new barrels So Im going to have to do that

Python2 11-02-2009 6:58 AM

Can I come to the build? I have two AK to work on. One is ready for rivet work the second one I have to look where I stopped. Just back the other night from out of the country for almost a month. Can you PM me your full name so I can send you my check.

Alexthewelder 11-02-2009 7:32 AM

@python2- for sure. 2 AK's! .... lucky=). a pm is on the way.

@every1- sorry bout the last name but the first 3 letters of it are supposedly derogatory so when I type it in the thread it puts these(*) in place of the 3 letters rendering it un-readable. If you need the last name just pm me and I will get back to you with the info.

I just got both of my ak74 kits today any they are nice:) Im so pumped

50BMGBOB 11-05-2009 12:47 AM

One more month and a cheap bump.

Alexthewelder 11-05-2009 7:00 AM

lol right on bob! well I was in touch with dura, looks like hes coming so if you need things for your build like mag locks, featureless items, flats etc get in touch with him. I also will be looking for what I can get my hands on as far as flats rivets etc.

louscamaro91 11-05-2009 11:37 AM

what do we need to bring and what is provided or available to purchase? I have a NDS-3 receiver and a demilled romy g complete parts kit with the old rivets still attached thats it. What else do I need? I want to come and participate but i'm a complete rookie when it boils down to the ak's

Alexthewelder 11-05-2009 11:55 AM

well you need to get those old rivets out of the front and rear trunnion. if your barrel is not seperated from the front trunnion yet, you need to press the barrel pin and barrel out to get out the 2(on each side) rivets out. All the items and more importantly knowledge you will need to get these things done will be at the bp.

As far as parts you will need a set of ak 47 rivets and center support rivet. then your compliance parts. trigger group(counts as 3 of 6. tapco g2 is good)
depending on if you go featureless or evil youll need a bullet button yada yada.

woodey 11-05-2009 1:00 PM

Just bring your wife, you'll have plenty of help

can these parts be purchased at the BP? Thanks for the advice like I said i'm a rookie at the AK game but want to get mine built so bad, so does my wife. She doesn't want an AR she wants an AK:43:

Alexthewelder 11-05-2009 1:37 PM

yah. get a hold of duraglock for the rivets/922r(compliance)parts or look online. Your pretty much set. you just need to build. im basically a rookie as well. I just started in august. Now ive got an ak47&74 ... oh and the bug! is this ak for the wifey? my ar is on the back burner thanks to these ak's! lol

50BMGBOB 11-05-2009 1:49 PM

I have all the parts but a mag lock and a mag. I want a different stock but that may have to wait until after Christmas (I have 5 kids, Santa sets me back). I need to take the brass scrap bucket from under my reloading bench in so I can call Duraglock to order them.

Python2 11-05-2009 3:36 PM

Is someone attending have a rivet jig specially for riveting the trigger guard assembly and the front trunion? Thanks

Alexthewelder 11-05-2009 3:40 PM

Yes as far as I know

If you plan to remove the rivets at the BP, make sure you bring a good drill bit smaller than the rivet, drill punch, lots of metal cutting blade (Cow Palace Gun Show this weekend have them) for the Dremel (I will bring my Dremel) as that little round thing break easily if you are not carefull cutting the rivet heads.

MadRiverArms 11-05-2009 7:12 PM

Sort of, its now 100%. Tested it out with my other AR upper and it worked fine. I am now in the process of collecting the rest of the upper and lower parts for this build. I will put together everything piece by piece.

MadRiverArms 11-06-2009 9:32 PM

It's '80s Russian manufacture. Ukraine to be specific, berdan primed, corrosive, FMJ, boat tail, steel core. At this point it looks like I have 2 extra cans of 1080 coming. I will know more next week.
