Cleaning up Bonnetti.

If anything will keep us from shooting on BLM or NFS land it'll be garbage.

Your absolutely right HMT! I've been up there twice in the last few months and it is a mess. I try to pick up what I can but everyone needs to police themselves or we will lose those areas. Please folks if your coming up to our back yard (El Dorado NF)or any NFS BLM area please pick up after yourselves and help by picking up a little extra.

Thanks.

Whats going on with this cleanup? I have some friends up there who are more than willing to go do the cleanup. Only thing is I need a ride from the Sacramento area to get up there since the turbo in my truck is blown. Lets get a date setup for this... that place is always a mess.

Would this possibly be a site P.L.I.N.K. would go out and clean up?

If so, would it be possible to link up and clear it out with them?

Either way, I'd be up for it.

It's one of the places they usually go clean up. For more information about the PLINK group, and to get on their email list so you know when they are going out, go check out their web page on the El Dorado gun Club website.

I'll be at Bonetti rd with some friends Saturday after next and we will be packing more out than we bring in for sure. If everyone did the same it would start shaping up soon. (Even using brass catchers on the semis)

Speaking of which, is it first come/served up there with regard to spots?

Yes. If there are too many people there to feel comfortable, go about another 1/2 mile. There's another turn out on the right where people shoot. You have to drive in about 50 yards.

I do not intend on organizing or participating in a group clean-up effort. I intend on bringing a rake from now on and cleaning the spot I use and removing as much as I can fit in my trunk. I was simply requesting that others help out when they visit. ( as Im sure most of us do anyway. ). As was stated, if everyone did this Bonneti would be nice again. If it isnt cleaned up I fear shooting may become prohibited, understandably too.

Why would you not participate in a group clean up for the better of us ALL? Maybe you can run up on dirtballs leaving trash and teach em too...

I agree that garbage is a big problem, and dumped garbage that is shot up, even if not originally dumped by shooters, is often blamed on shooters.

However, there is one thing that will keep us from shooting on NFS land quicker than garbage... it's shot up trees! Do NOT shoot the trees, and do NOT use trees as your backstop!

I'll definately have to agree with that. it is illegal to shoot trees in the national forrest, so don't do it, or you'll make all the tree huggers want to close down the forrest to shooting.

Gathered a couple extra hefty bags full of detritus from Bonetti today. No trees were harmed during the days events. Some stumps, however, will never be the same. :-)

Went up to Bonetti this morning and all the sites were pretty trashed, at ours there was a TV, snowsled, lots of cans and paper trash everywhere. We had a good time and hauled out 4 garbage bags full of somebody else's trash, still plenty messy up there though.
