What up SGV!!??
Finally got our own sub forum but nobody's here!? Well I'm in SGV, always looking for new local gun friends. Go out to Hodge road few times a year. Built a couple AR's Finally built my first AK and love it. Wanna build one let me know! I'm not a pro but love to shoot the **** over it. How about you!?
|
Wow, our own sub forum huh? Awesome!
Love to shoot as well. Don't get to do enough of it because of job and family. Absolutely LOVE the AR platform. Currently looking into precision shooting and AK's. Need to find out more about building AK's, wouldn't mind building one someday. Also love chatting and learning about firearms, shooting, gear, gunsmithing, training, etc. Could chat about it for days. Love taking training courses and running my AR's. |
Just got done finishing an AR and working to put together a budget AR build. Nice to see a SGV sub forum.
|
I'm glad a forum for this area is open cuz I use to head out to the San Gabriel Valley Gun Club every other friday! What a fantastic place for shooting fun. I especially loved there clean stable tables for some serious bench rest shooting. Too bad politics came into play and shut them down. I've heard some talk/rumors about the possibility of the range re-opening.....any truth to this rumor????

I also enjoyed SGVGC that was a good place.

|
just learned we have a local chapter, looking forward to meet/chat with my fellow calgunner
|
nice to have this. We will have to get our own event going one of these days.

New to Calguns.
I used to Love the SGVGC and the Santa Anita indoor range. I have been going to Angeles since they closed, have never been to Burro even thogh I am in Alhambra. I also need a good Indoor place, I havent heard many good things about the Downtown range. I recently began building a Remi 700 SPS 308. I have my Vortex 4 16X50 just waiting on my base and rings from Midway. Any recommendations on a gunsmith for mounting it? Joetotoroto (Ralph) |

For indoor the Firing Line in Burbank is where I go. There is a Calguns meet up every last sat night as well. If your shooting riffle or shotgun might want to check out LAX. There is a calguns meet up once a month at LAX and the Firing Line. |
what do you guys think of Angeles shooting range in Sylmar? I want to find a close place to shoot my shotgun but I think it's faster and easier to drive to Sylmar than LAX.

I usually shoot at burro during the week.I jump back and forth from pistol and rifle side. Pretty cheap to shoot at 10.00 for the day. If i cant make it to burro i will go to la puente firing range. Its a indoor range. |
wife and I do La Puente, she is not as into outdoor.
I have found Angeles and Burro are almost the exact same distance for me and I like Angeles more. |

I have been to the la Puente indoor range, and the only thing that kills me about them is the hourly rate and I can't shoot my 9mm carbine there. in sight shooting range is further but worth the price and I can shoot my carbine.

sup guys... avid paintballer, airsofter, and now m4 owner...
anyone like to go to Tac city? |
Angeles is the only controlled range to shoot precision and long range here in the LA area. Their long range side goes out to 600 yards. Pistol side also has benches with steel @ 100 yards that you can use for zero'ing in your rifles. There's also steel set up for pistol shooting as well ranging from 35 yrds to 100 yrds.
Great place to go on weekdays when it's not busy. On the weekends, you'll usually need to get there before they open if you want to ensure a spot on the long range side. |
Hey guys im in Whittier and down to meet fellow calgunners go shoot and am looking for someone to teach me the ropes about hunting. I dont know why I havent joined this subgroup earlier.
|
according to google maps, from Monterey Park, Angeles and Burro are the same distance.

Big Bear this weekend here I come!

LAX is the best local indoor range for shotguns. If you need a close by "quick fix" there's LA Gun Club in downtown LA. I've never been to La Puente.
|
I would not call La Puente a nice range, but it is a good range.
Guys that work there are cool, easygoing and helpful. The range itself is a bit old and can get warm inside. |

What's up guys I started out by going to Insight shooting range in Anaheim which allowed shotguns but you had to buy their buckshot ammo, but started to go to Field Time Target indoors shooting range in Stanton (close to Knotts Berry Farm off of Beach Blvd from 5 fwy) which allows shooting rifle rounds, "Rifle Calibers.223/5.56 7.62 - .308 30-06 30-30 Permitted*" albeit 25yd max. Shotguns allowed shooting slugs or single ball ammo. They open at 11am daily where Insight opens at 1pm. I haven't gone to Burros or Angeles yet.

To all SGV member,
I usually go to borros on Monday afternoon and will get the private range if possible. Anyone is welcome to join me if they want. PM me |

Gun Appreciation Day! Anything going on?
|
+1 for burro but it is so crowded anymore Its sometimes hard to get one of the big private rifle ranges I am accustomed to getting for last 13 years. Have been investigating BLM options, apple valley gun club, etc as a way of not having constant bothering on our otherwise fun day out. West end gun club is an option too.
|
Ps am going to swing by Big five though that's not much of a supportive steps (got yard work to do and killing zombies since ammo is insane). And i am representing Glendora!
|
Has anybody been to LA Gun club? Do they frown on collecting your brass? I dont like La Puente.

I use to go to Tac City on Wed night for pistol/shotgun night since all I have is a 1911 airsoft that I bought for a force on force class. Haven't been there in awhile, been buys raising my baby daughter. |
