Please Join CCRKBA and Hoffmang in LA for an Amazing Event

Who: The Citizens Committee for the Right To Keep and Bear Arms and Gene Hoffman.

What: Rally to oppose Mayors Against Illegal Guns' new gun control scheme and generally support the right to keep and bear arms.

Where: Downtown Los Angeles (across from City Hall). On NW corner of W. 1st & N. Spring, , kitty corner within eyesight of City Hall (frontside), adjacent to LATimes, south side of W. 1st.

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/240/mapqy.jpg

Meet ahead of time at: Redwood Bar & Grill, 316 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012; t. (213) 680-2600

Parking: Please see Post 100.

When: 11:30AM Wednesday, March 16.

Please join the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and our own Hoffmang (Gene Hoffman) as they rally against Mayor Bloomberg's latest scheme to infringe on our rights to keep and bear arms.

Most of you are familiar with Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns. In the tradition of past harebrained schemes such like restricting the painting of firearms and denying fundamental Constitutional Rights without due process. Hizzoner's latest ploy to strip guns from law abiding Americans is called, "Fix Gun Checks".

Now, the rubes at MAIG seek to:
  • Require background checks for ALL firearms transfers.
  • Allow people to be designated as "mentally ill" without proper adjudication.
  • Allow people to be designated as "illegal drug users" without proper adjudication.
  • Allow people to be put on a "prohibited list" without proper adjudication.

Screw them.

Let them go pound sand.

In the meantime - let's voice our displeasure and at the same time educate folks and the media that contrary to hysterical proclamations, that GUNS SAVE LIVES!

CCRKBA has a truck (pictured below) which is being used as the centerpiece to an education campaign. And the campaign is coming to Los Angeles.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-t...Sign+truck.jpg

Gene Hoffman is going to speak to the press - and we'd like to have some folks there to show support, create a little buzz and make for a nice media picture.

If we're going to change the minds of people and the media, we have to demonstrate that gun owners are ordinary folks. We have to put faces to the concepts of "gun owner".

Please join us at this event. More details to follow.

Are they going to have that truck following directly behind the MAIG truck?

HowardW56 03-12-2011 8:48 PM

I don't think I can get away from work.... Will there be a post event gathering?

No. Stangely enough, MAIG (or Fix Gun Checks) refuses to publish a schedule. Folks have been working on getting one by hook & crook - but no dice.

Why wouldn't they have a schedule?

jonyg 03-12-2011 8:52 PM

Dang...20 min away from downtown. Anyone passing by westwood on the way there?

A specific location at City Hall to meet up?
Just out front or ???

oaklander 03-12-2011 9:03 PM

I'm probably going to drive down from Sonora in my 1963 Dodge Dart. It will take me 6 hours each way, and it will cost me several hundred dollars in lost income, but I am GLADLY willing to do this for the cause.

I urge all of you who are in SoCal to take an hour or two out of your day, and do the same thing.

EDIT: Just posted on FB, and tweeted. Will do blog post shortly, etc. . .

Nor-Cal 03-12-2011 9:09 PM

Wish I was closer so I could attend, hope to see all the So-Cal calgunners show up in force for this event!

Maybe someone can chime in with more info. If it comes down to it you could find parking somewhere and do just that. Once the fun begins I'm sure it won't be hard to miss.

Unfortunately for me I have to find a way to evade full time employment. I always seem to miss the fun.

I wish I could, I'm up against a tough schedule on a project...

spgripside 03-12-2011 9:20 PM

Awesome! See you there.

TeckLancer 03-12-2011 9:26 PM

Wish i can go but im in ny atm working should be back by friday

hill billy 03-12-2011 9:26 PM

I'll be there. :chris:

What is appropriate attire?

Kid Stanislaus 03-12-2011 9:34 PM

With more lead time I could've gotten a day off.

johndoe2150 03-12-2011 9:45 PM

Will be there I might bring a friend or two

bld0121 03-12-2011 9:56 PM

I can't get the day off. I'm a teacher (no paid vacation outside of the many I already have) and I'm not going to call-in-sick for a political protest like the many hypocritical teachers at the rallies in Wisconsin.

Is there a place I can get bumper stickers to match the message on the truck?

I doubt it's the same truck nationwide (probably just renting them out in the various cities and putting in the sign), but if it was, GPS bug it.

tozan 03-12-2011 10:05 PM

I'll be there

I believe in the prior thread, Josh was requesting 'business casual' or better.

wildhawker 03-12-2011 10:15 PM

If I weren't stuck in a deposition on Monday I'd totally be there. Best to all the event organizers and volunteers!

Look at my screen name. Business casual for me means socks with my overalls. :D

Lone_Gunman 03-12-2011 10:18 PM

edsel6502 03-12-2011 10:25 PM

There's a public lot around the corner.

The meet-up place will be announced shortly. It's also around the corner. Monitor the three top posts for new and changing information.

On SE corner of E. 2nd Street and N. Main there 's a private lot. Looks like there's a parking garage across the street, too.

Anyone needing info regarding downtown L.A. is welcome to pm me or call my cel. (323*229-8165. -jp
There's lots of things to do and see around the area there. If you prefer to park at a meter, take 4 or 5 dollars in quarters. Go east on 2nd street, your best bet. If you're forced to park farther away, stop at a DASH bus stop. The bus is a quarter, a dime more if you need to transfer.

I use to work in little tokyo at 340 E. 2nd Street and there is a private parking next door (5 Star Parking) lot on 350 E. 2nd Street which is approximately 2 blocks south east from the rallly point. Cost is about $8.00 all day.

Likewise, there is Joes Parking lot (across Bank of the West) on 2nd and San Pedro which is probably a lil cheaper and closer to the rally point.

I'll try to make it to the rally but no guarantees since I have a job interview that day in the OC. Perhaps afterwards if possible...

BTW: watch your meter parkings since the police will not hesistate to tow.

geeknow 03-13-2011 5:53 AM

See you guys there.

OleCuss 03-13-2011 5:57 AM

Due to my schedule Wednesdays are virtually always a "no" for anything and any reason (and have been for several years). Sorry.
