80% AR lower machining in the Central Valley.

Is there any interest in a 80% AR lower build party in the Oakdale area? I am trying to talk my friend into writing the program for his cnc mill. Let me know if its worth it to twist his arm!

biglou 09-07-2012 4:25 PM

I might be interested, along with a couple of friends. :cheers2:

Hdawg 09-09-2012 3:41 PM

If you do something that close to home for me, I'll help you twist! :drool5:

fourtraxmc 09-10-2012 5:55 AM

Thanks for the interest. I have the TM jig, it just would be so much easier on the cnc. I will keep you posted.

slo5oh 09-13-2012 3:46 PM

Pm me when you set a date, I may be able to add up to 3 to the party.

CRTguns 09-13-2012 4:42 PM

legal issue here guys... maybe...

You and you alone must complete your lower. If someone else does it, HE is manufacturing the gun for you. He would be required to have an FFL mfg license, then transfer that gun to you.

I suppose that if you and you alone hit the grren "start cycle" button on the cnc, then you have completed the firearm.

This is just me wondering.

fourtraxmc 09-13-2012 5:08 PM

Plan would be to have owner put lower in fixture, press go, remove ,deburr and assemble lower with guidance. Also checking into another legality issue, owner of machine shop is a 07 ffl holder.

Tim209 09-14-2012 4:50 PM

My self and a few from Waterford area may be in.. I'll stay tuned

fourtraxmc 09-14-2012 5:39 PM

Thanks for the interest guys. Owner of shop wants to make sure he doesn't jeopardize his ffl, plus he is pretty busy. I will keep you posted.

mudbass7 09-15-2012 10:08 AM

Interested pending further

Tim209 10-16-2012 6:48 AM

Sublime_AC 10-17-2012 7:56 AM

Put me on the list of interested people please. :)

mdib870 10-17-2012 8:08 AM

i might be interested

siliconphreak 10-17-2012 9:26 AM

Located out in escalon I'm interested.

fourtraxmc 10-17-2012 10:13 AM

Sorry this isn't moving faster, but the shop has been staying pretty busy. I will put some more pressure on him.

Tim209 10-17-2012 3:37 PM

No... no pressure lol
Just checking in.. Never rush the hand that feeds(rounds) lol.
Just wanted to see if it's still on the table. Thanks

wash 10-17-2012 5:08 PM

I suggest finding a place to do your machining that is not owned by an FFL holder.

FFL holders are heavily scrutinized by the CA DOJ. After the OLL drama at RMB back in the day, I see no reason to allow them access anywhere they don't need to be.

I spoke to the shop owner today and he would like to do them but his plate is full right now. We have discussed the ffl issue also, it is his call on that . I have access to a manual mill, TM jig and most of the tooling. That might be the route that it goes.

jetoboy88 10-19-2012 4:31 AM

I might actually be interested... Def. keep this thread alive :)

TStewartFan 10-19-2012 8:15 AM

I would be interested an have a couple of other people that may as well. Keep me posted.
Also, is the plan to already have an 80% in out possession or will there be work on trying to put together a group buy real quick?

interested!

kennedyar15 10-20-2012 1:45 AM

im definitely interested, have been trying to track down machinist that will let someone else hit the green button as well. my name is Kennedy and am from rio vista. if he wants to do that i can refer all 80% lower sales from friends shop for constant business in future as well. also looking for a a guy to build prototype gun for a start up firearm company. shoot me a holler as i would be interested in meeting your guy for business adventure.

fourtraxmc 10-24-2012 3:57 PM

Ok here is an update. I spoke with my friend . He would rather not run it out of his shop. All is not lost though. I have access to a cnc mill that I am going to try and set-up at another location. I will let you know more as this progresses. If this does happen this sounds like it will be a dedicated machine for a while. Thanks again.

wash 10-24-2012 4:22 PM

That sounds like a better idea.

I'm the guy with the 07 FFL on this thread and if you need a prototype we can take care of that. You have a contact that produces 80% lowers?? I'm interested let me know

fourtraxmc 10-24-2012 7:04 PM

Price Design meet Calguns, Calguns meet Price Design! Now go become a vendor.

fourtraxmc 10-30-2012 10:31 AM

Still working on this. I have lined up a shop, now just need to get the mill moved over and wired up. Looking like it will be around the end of November. Hopefully there will be lowers and parts kits available. Stay tuned.

Tim209 10-30-2012 12:50 PM

Thank you, I appreciate the offer!

fourtraxmc 10-31-2012 6:21 PM

I have another questions for all of you. Setting up a day to run the mill every month or so will work , but what is the interest of doing the machining by appointment?

Hdawg 10-31-2012 7:26 PM

For me, appointments might work out better. Either way, I will find a way to be there.

Tim209 11-01-2012 1:03 PM

My 2 cents.. Whatever is the easy for you and your time. People will find a way to get to you from there. Lol

Just saw this thread and yes I would be interested! Oakdale is not too far for me! So count me in! I would mainly be interested in ar10, but might do another ar15!
Would you be able to help finish QD 80%?

Sublime_AC 11-03-2012 5:36 PM

I will make one every month if you get this setup.

fourtraxmc 11-07-2012 2:54 PM

Been working 12hr shifts, mill will be moved soon.

scott154 11-07-2012 4:35 PM

I live in the oakdale area so if you need any help moving the mill let me know

norcalrider 11-07-2012 6:07 PM

^^^Ditto!

Baloncesto32 11-08-2012 5:34 PM

Your my hero! I am in the sacramento area and have been looking for a build party for me and several friends. We definitely do not mind driving a few hours to finish off our paperweights.
