Any interest in third annual @#%!? CG Rabbit Hunt?

Location: Lone Pine, CA

Dates: Aug 31, Sep 1&2, 2013.

This was started by toby/Jim and I had 5 new hunters with me last year. I just want to pas s it forward and keep the hunting tradition alive. I ask the experience hunters to refrain from making jokes about the thread so new hunters won't be confuse what's for real and not.

For those interested I suggest you read this old thread:http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=526152

scotus 07-10-2013 7:46 AM

I'm a new hunter. I'm definitely interested. Just have to decide if I'm going to see my school play it's first football game up at Cal on the 31st, or if it'll be hunting. I've been thinking about going out on my own, but it would be good to go and learn from some people.

toby 07-10-2013 6:42 PM

........

vega 07-10-2013 7:29 PM

Hey toby welcome back to hunting and fishing section! You comimg?

64ssking 07-10-2013 7:36 PM

im interested but that opening day dove season i can make it mid august.

huntandski 07-10-2013 8:05 PM

Are there doves up there?

If so, I'm up to cruise up there with anyone from SD and split on gas. Hunt rabbits the 31, then doves the 1.

Cheezle56 07-11-2013 8:00 PM

Any other dates available for those whose work schedules prevent them?

Not sure, you might want to do a research for that.

Nope, this is something I have scheduled with family and friends early this year.

SBsasquatch 07-11-2013 9:50 PM

Interested. Out of Rancho. And possess all required equipment. .22 rifle, 12g., H.& F. License, poles and tackle box... IF AVAILABLE count me in...

Sundo 07-11-2013 11:34 PM

I'm in. This will be my first rabbit hunt.

I understand lead ammo is okay because this is upland game?

I have a Marlin 60 .22LR with 14 rd tube mag. Is that okay?

I also have 12 ga. I'm reading #6 shot is good. Is that #6 lead or steel?

Lead ok.

Marlin 60 ok.

12 ga ok. Lead or steel #6 ok. We will be in condor free ( for now) zone.

SBsasquatch 07-12-2013 7:40 AM

#6 shot is my go to with bunnies. Big enough to carry for a longer shot and a lil easier to pick out when cleaning.

I suggest you read the link on the first post, everything is there. Even the coordinates for the campsites are there if you want to campout. There are also motels if you want accomodations.

Since toby is coming, I hope he still have the signs we had last year.

Hundandski - toby already answered your question.

More info will be given when the dates get nearer but I still suggest to read the link as most infos are already there.

Gatcha619 07-12-2013 8:28 PM

I'm there, taking the family for a good ol vacation. Then I can get away do some hunting. Take the kids fishing after the morning hunts.

Eric Mayer 07-27-2013 6:54 AM

I'll be up there in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know how the numbers are looking, after I get done shooting a few!! ;)

spectr17 08-15-2013 11:05 PM

I like to make one of these hunts but Sept 1 is the dove opener and I've already made plans.

vega 08-16-2013 5:00 AM

For those who decided to come you should have a room or know which campground to stay. Please send me PM for those are coming and let me know where you are staying.

vega 08-16-2013 10:05 AM

I got a pm regarding contact number, my celfone is useless up there and we happened to have our radios that time. We are tuned to channel 7. I always enjoy primitive camping so I will go to same old Tuttle Creek Campground. I will be one the south side of the camp.

toby 08-16-2013 5:14 PM

Heads up! if you are going to attend this Rabbit/Dove shoot and you need a room you better act fast, like today.

devil83dog@hotmail.com 08-16-2013 6:17 PM

Is there no room left at the campgrounds?

Eric Mayer 08-16-2013 8:13 PM

Most of the campgrounds are first-come-first served. I think Toby is speaking about the motels in the area. It is summer time and they tend to fill up fast. Especially on the weekends.

Eric

vega 08-16-2013 9:01 PM

devil83,

Some campgrounds can be reserved online. Lone Pine, upper and lower grays meadow campgrounds to name a few.

theshoer 08-20-2013 7:42 PM

I will be there.

21SF 08-21-2013 8:29 AM

Wish this wasnt 8 hrs away :(

dinosauraphael 08-21-2013 7:11 PM

I've realized that the ammo limit for shotgun hunting is 2+1. Does that mean I need to modify my 5+1 shotgun's magazine tube to 2+1? Or I can just load 3 rounds only and good to go?
