New FFL Opens For Business In SF Valley

Hi, All,

We just opened our Gun Shop in the center of Angeles Shooting Ranges,
in the northwest corner of the San Fernando Valley.

We are open from Thursday -- Sunday, 10am -- 5pm, or
by special appointment.

We are right in the middle of the 100 acre public shooting facility.

We do catalog sales, transfers, even private party without an attitude.
We also administer the exam and issue the Handgun Safety Certificate.

You can find out about is at our web site: ffl.shooters-edge.com.
We even post our markups and fees clearly on the web site.

For 10 years, we have been in the firearms training business.
This gives us a perspective on the use of firearms and the configuration
of firearms that many dealers simply do not have.
Also, if you buy a new gun through us, we give you a discount certificate
on the tuition for one of our training courses. That way, you can
actually learn how to use the firearm tactically.

We hope to see you in our shop.

Bruce Krell

Welcome. I wonder if you guys accept OOS transfer of AKs and ARs or are one of those chicken FFLs?

Do you sell and transfer OLL's?

I visited with Bruce to see what they're all about while I was at ASR today. Great guy to talk to and I'm sure that we'll be doing business in the future.

Looks like you're exclusively a transfer/catalog dealer? Is this temporary or the plan for the foreseeable future?

Some of your information on what's required information for buyers/sellers isn't correct and/or confusing. For example, a seller needs no proof of residency, just ID. A car registration is also considered sufficient for a handgun proof of residency.

I'm not someone who jumps to conclusions, but it might be to your benefit if I mention I'm pretty put off by how much of the information is presented. Perceptions matter. I get the "chock full of attitude FFL" vibe. Perhaps it was intended?

Also, there's a big bold typo that's a little annoying on the "ORDER" page:
"NOTE: FIREARMS ARE SCARCE, BUT WE WILL DO OUT BEST"

Also note from your fees page that most credit card processors prohibit you for charging extra for using a credit card. However, you can list prices with a cash discount. Symantics yes, but you need to know how to play the game.

I just stopped playing the credit card game. One price for all or I will round down if you bring cash. Your $100 transfer fee and 35% mark up on guns is good enough do you really want to nickel and dime your customers on the 3%? I wouldn't.

Just curious, is a 35% mark up on new firearms pretty standard in the biz?

On the documentation page, is there a time period associated with the "Proof Of Approved Safety Device Purchase"? I recall that the receipt needs to show purchase within the last XX days.

I'll drop in for a visit next time I visit the range.

Congratulations I wish you great success. It's great to see a new firearms store open up.
