Also, we need party lines for what to say when the media asks questions about high capacity magazines, background checks, "Assault" weapons, crime, etc. Otherwise they will have their pick of which idiots to quote and make the whole group look retarded.

Well I for one will not be speaking to media. Someone will dumbfound me with their stupidity then beat me with experiance.

And the internet quote thing? I am 50 and have been seeing the same quotes attributed to the same people since I was a kid. when we only had black and white TV's and my only access to information was school and the library :)

If we're going to be cautious then I wouldn't cite who you are quoting. The statement doesn't become less true, or less aligned with your beliefs just because you cite the wrong source. If I were unsure I just would leave off the citation.

Hey guys trying to confirm WHAT TIME? I thought it was 12pm, but facebook page says 12pm CST which would be 10am for us.

Is it really 10 am or 12pm. It's almost 3 hours drive for me so I don't want to mess up the time.

it is not a current restriction in the penal code. the grounds of the capitol AFAIK are what is restricted, especially inside the capitol itself.

^^This.

The 4 block radius is ridiculous. It may be his request that people not ccw within a 4 block radius. Do not take this as a penal code.

If you can legally conceal, and would like to. Do not enter the 4 streets that encompass the capital and capital park. 10th, L st, 15th and N st.

Of course if you do so, you cannot take part in the rally and will standing across the street.

I don't like that argument since the anti's just say "oooo straw man".

I like ones that say stuff like "A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone"

or "end pretend gun free zones"

or "gun control isn't about guns, it is about control"

I got a bunch off of Oleg Volks site I am going to print up a couple posters.

I really don't think we fit this states perception of a stereotypical gun owner. My wife and I are educated, well groomed, and articulate. We are also passionate about our beliefs, we will not be silenced because you don't agree with the statement.

The point of the sign is that there are normal people who look and act like everyone else who are passionate about their rights.

If I am correct this order refers to if there are secret service present doing their jobs. So lets say you were to hold a march on the inauguration ceremony, that would be a no no...
Saturday in Sacramento is fine, as there should be no secret service agents working that day in any capacity.

K forgive me here I just don't want to comb throughout all the pages of this thread- is it illegal to carry concealed while protesting/being at/near the capital? If its not, I don't see the big deal about carrying- if it's concealed legally, that's my business. Unless it is against the law I don't see a problem.

Yes. The grounds where the capitol is located is federal property. So the only way to carry is across the street. Now this is what I am told, and i believe them to be true. Nobody wants a scene at this event so all the anti gun nuts can say, "told you so"

CCW is prohibited on the Capital grounds. So unless you want to stand across the street no CCW.

Alright thanks. Just found the penal code.

Penal Code 171c(a)(1):
Any person who brings a loaded firearm into, or possesses a loaded firearm within, the State Capitol, any legislative office, any office of the Governor or other constitutional officer, or any hearing room in which any committee of the Senate or Assembly is conducting a hearing, or upon the grounds of the State Capitol, which is bounded by 10th, L, 15th, and N Streets in the City of Sacramento

Media Foreshadows the Accusations of White Racism in Advance of Gun Event.

http://mediamatters.org/blog/2013/01...hite-na/192318

Quote:

Gun Appreciation Day, a prominent effort backed by conservative media outlets and activists to oppose new gun laws, has accepted the sponsorship of a white nationalist organization to promote and mobilize supporters for its January 19 event.

Gun Appreciation Day (GAD) is partnering with the American Third Position (A3P), a political group that describes itself as representing "the unique political interests of white Americans." According to a party official, the organization is composed of "white nationalists."

GAD lists A3P on its "sponsors" page along with its logo, motto ("Liberty. Sovereignty. Identity") and a link to American3rdPosition.com. Other sponsors include prominent conservative media outlets like RedState, the right-wing blog edited by CNN contributor Erick Erickson. The event's main page asks visitors to "Please Support Our Sponsors."
The gig hasn't even started yet, and participants are already being called racists, white nationalists...only thing missing is a reference to Klansmen. Perhaps that comes tomorrow, under the glassy stare of a live camera by Sacramento media interviewing the guy in the Camo trousers tucked into their Doc Marten's.

Well gosh darn it you've convinced me! I'm going to cower at home now because of a baseless Brady fishing expedition that has since been resolved. Heck the 3 comments on their Facebook page on this post should scare the most patriotic from attending! Oh wait no those comments are just pro gunners making fun of them... Bugger. Guess ill drag my freedom loving butt to Sac tomorrow after all!

We are in no way affiliated with Gun Appreciation Day!!! Get it through your head..
And with a post op transsexual speaking along with a Latino woman the media will have a hard time spinning this.
But thank you for your support.

Good. I'm sure you will try to clear that up for the media. But that effort will be wasted since the media has already made the connection that Gun Appreciation Day is January 19th and your event at the state Capitol is on January 19th. It may be mistaken identity to us, but our opponent will not make any such distinctions.

I sense that you are getting angry or frustrated with my commentary. Bear in mind that in spite of your perception, I am on your side and it is my earnest hope that everyone in attendance is prepared for the probable and foreseeable attacks by both media and anti-liberty forces.

Little of what I have seen here has convinced me that everyone is really ready- because if you think I am a scathing critic, just wait until you are confronted by those who really hate gun owners.

Well, the lions are well fed.

I dont get taunted or spooled up easy, I have been married over 24 years and I have 4 kids and spent 10 years in the Marines.

I have had every button pushed that someone could push on me. I just shrug and smile these days.

I understand your concern however, that is why I wish people like you would help us and participate. you seem to have knowledge about things I dont, I could use some extra help working security and I have a feeling you would be good at dealing with any problems since you seem to have knowledge of the enemy.

Wish you would still consider joining us tomorrow.

We are quite ready, there has been a lot going on in the background which I am not presenting here. I have been emailing attendees, and also posting via our official channels. We have a good speaker list and it appears that support has grown by leaps and bounds.
I am confident in the people I am working with and also those who we have spoken to regarding attending. We have worked with different shooting clubs, and other groups. they know what we are trying to do an how we are trying to do it.
I can not personally dress every individual. I can not duct tape every mouth there just because I am worried one might say something crass. We have media lined up and they know who the leaders are and who they will be interviewing.
So yeah I am a bit irritated. I have been working my butt off answering emails, interviews, and writing. Only to have someone give me the same argument from page 1. I have taken your concerns and those of Gene and others to our nightly phone calls. We have addressed them all as best we can.
People are complaining we are doing this over MKL weekend too, and that it is so close the inauguration. I am still answering emails now, and getting preferred media channels sorted.
I also injured my hip and have trouble walking but that isn't stopping me from doing my best.
