No levels this time. We're running them like the regular weekday clinics. The only difference is instead of all the new shooters being grouped together, shooters of different skill sets get to shoot together.

epic1856 04-26-2013 6:39 AM

making sure this gets up to the top.

Wow! One year since your first clinic. Oh, and in case you're talking about the other one, have fun with your wife and tell her I said Hi.

I may look into joining up on this when I get a shotgun appropriate for the games. I only currently got a HD shotgun, but I hope to acquire a game gun soon!

Coach Don has shotguns that he allows students to use. It's a good way to get a feel for things, and a good chance for you to get out there and enjoy learning skeet now, as opposed to waiting.

Hey all, I attended the clinic today, my first time ever shooting shotgun at anything but a paper target. This clinic is awesome. Don and Richard are great instructors, hands down. If you want to learn how to shoot skeet correctly, sign up. If you want to improve your technique, sign up. If you like to be BS'd or have your ego stroked, then go somewhere else. I feel guilty about paying such a minimal fee for the personalized instruction. A great facility, other students, food, everything. Thanks Don and Richard. I'll be back.

jkcerda 05-04-2013 7:48 PM

ill be there tomorrow, ill be the guy in the Mankini :43:

he let one of the shooters borrow a nice O/U, & the pro shop has a few nice rentals, $25 for the whole day, beats buying something & then finding out you dont like it.

Quick question about the clinic. I don't receive my shotgun for the games for a few weeks as it is currently being shipped + 10 day waiting period.

How much money do I need to participate in the clinic? I never shot a shotgun before nor have had any exposure to trap or skeet, do I need to rent a shotgun and how much does it usually cost? How much ammo will I need to purchase? Do you recommend I receive my shotgun before joining the classes?

Thanks in advance.

SoCalPI 05-08-2013 8:30 PM

Dattebayo. The clinic cost $20 to the coach. Each round of skeet will cost you around $9.50. A box of 25 shells at the Pro Shop runs $7.50. We shot 6 rounds of skeet but there were only 3 of us. I think you should plan for at least 4 rounds. So about $68 plus $20 for coach. Coach had several guns that you could likely borrow (I did). Or the pro shop has several you can rent for $20.

I would not wait til you get your gun to sign up. You will be learning the basics which will translate to any gun you shoot. I highly recommend the clinic. It was my first time shooting skeet and is a blast.

Edit-- It was exactly $35.43 for two rounds of skeet including shells from Pro Shop. You can probably find shells for less to bring the cost down a little?

I read the clinic sticky but I couldn't find what type of ammo I should bring?

Just jailed an o/u yesterday and am really looking forward to this clinic.
