I blew up my scope!!
I put 15 rounds thru my AK with my newish tasco 6X24 varmint scope and the zoom breaks!, of course stuck on 6X to add insult to injury!!

GTKrockeTT 09-01-2007 9:47 PM

i stopped reading after "tasco."

caduckgunner 09-01-2007 9:48 PM

(In Before The Only Buy Optics That Cost More Than A Thousand Dollars) show up.

Edit: To late :p

CSACANNONEER 09-01-2007 10:01 PM

Return it! And, why would you put an 18 power scope on an AK? Stick with the iron sights and put the replacement scope on a rifle designed and built to shoot straight!

I blew up my scope!!
Sorry about your scope, but maybe there is a message in that, Scope (more than 4X CQB) and AK are not meant to be. And there are very good scopes that are less than 1000 bucks, even less than 500.

Hope you can exchange it. (the scope )

Professional, lean like a Cheetah, a Man's rifle...

Why not?

AK scope? Here: See if your AK's got the rail for it, and if it does, buy a POSP. If it doesn't, get the rail, too, and put it on.

I can't wait till next week and I can post pics of my (finally) finished Romy G.... with a scope OMGWTFBBQLOL!!!!!!!1!

Timberwolf 09-02-2007 7:54 AM

there's a reason we call them "trashco". In optics one old adage rings true time after time - you get what you pay for.

xenophobe 09-02-2007 10:20 AM

18x scope on an AK?

That'd be like putting race tires on a dump truck:rofl2:

rksimple 09-02-2007 10:39 AM

You get what you pay for. Your experience is not has happened many, many times.

+1 on the POSP.

daskraut 09-02-2007 12:31 PM

I bought it from a guy at angeles for $40.00 that just got a nice nikon, and for your info, this rifle is a "F"ing tack driver!. The model I have with the original barrel(18"?) is known to be super accurate in .223. I wanted to change to a longer barrel and all the AK nuts went berserk and told me not to touch it. For the record, I love big magnification on scopes. It may be a character flaw, but it makes me happy when I can see right where the bullet is hitting the steel at 3-400 yards.

aplinker 09-02-2007 1:17 PM

I think most people reserve the term "tack driver" for <1" at 100yds for a rifle.

There's nothing wrong with putting anything on anything, but its usefulness will be limited... and it won't be appropriate.

I would hardly equate a 22X Tasco scope with racing tires. It's more like putting monster truck tires on a Yugo.

Tasco is bad, though. I've had a couple die. On .22's!

BigMac 09-02-2007 1:22 PM

I'm with you... I like magnification.. I use a 8-32 on my .22. I like seeing th bullet hole open up at 100 yards and more.

Hell even at only 6 power you got your 40 bucks worth.

PistolPete75 09-12-2007 5:18 PM

ya i heard many bad things about the tasco line-up

Sniper3142 09-12-2007 6:50 PM

Sounds like you got your monies worth ($40) IMHO.

Oh yeah... I always connect the words TACK DRIVER and AK together...

But I'm sure you can hit the head of a nail at 2 miles with it.

sloguy 09-12-2007 10:40 PM

im not saying that the ak you have isnt a tack driver. what im saying is that id like to see some groups. so, please, shoot some groups and lets see the paper.

bwiese 09-15-2007 2:03 AM

"Super accurate AK"? Geez.

Anyway you get what you pay for.

Life's too short for cheap scopes.

tankerman 09-15-2007 11:51 AM

Hey, maybe he really does drive (carpet)tacks with it, and finishing nails, rail road spikes etc.....

new cal shooter 09-15-2007 6:01 PM

BSA, Yes BSA sure its made in Commie China, but give you a LIFETIME warranty, had one for 4 years on my 8mm finally went blurry, out of focus, sent me a brand new one, ever better than origional, and i even ground down mine to fit an odd rifle, BSA say what you will but great customer service.

Spiggy 09-15-2007 8:17 PM

:P sorry, was my first thought when "scope" and "AK" showed up... course, there's the "tackdriver" and "AK" connection issue ;)
