Girls with (C&R) Guns

How about a "Girls with Guns" thread just for the C&R forum? :p

I'll start it off with one of the ever popular Israel Defense Forces girls...

I wonder if that K98 had been converted to 7.62NATO yet?

Fjold 05-30-2007 9:52 AM

With the old style photo and the K98 I would have thought it was one of the Hitler Youth (Brown Shirts) pre WWII.

AJAX22 05-30-2007 11:28 AM

It's an interesting k98... didn't those have a straight bolt handle when they left the factory? unless they are a converted sniper....

Moonclip 05-30-2007 11:41 AM

I love redheaded Israeli women:) I wonder when this photo was taken.

AJAX22 05-30-2007 3:11 PM

what the heck is that thing behind the girl with teh stg44? it looks like it has a full length barrel shroud with saw marks on the top?

anyone?

kap 05-30-2007 3:12 PM

... or that her finger is on the trigger.

There are also a couple of Hakims in the background. Interesting picture.

albacore 05-30-2007 5:24 PM

MP44, Hakim, K98, M-14, mas 49/56, carcano, vz 52...

I'd hate to be supplying that group with ammo.

The photo is from an old post card. If I recall correctly, it was from the early 1960's.

I know left that Turkish Mauser next to the bowl of pretzels, where the hell did it go?

WallySparx 05-30-2007 8:02 PM

figure it's a good thing as long as the guns are c&r and not the girls.

mur 05-30-2007 8:28 PM

This Girls and Guns Thread is way better than that other one
Minus that last photo of course......that just isn't right

I don't think any amount of Tung Oil is gonna make that look any better

Apparently it's not that hard with a reloading setup to convert 8mm x 57 rounds to work. I've heard of several guys that do this.

What are the chances of seeing something like this at a Los Angeles high school these days?

http://www.type03.net/novelty-pics/gunsinlaschools.gif

Can anybody identify this target rifle?

hybridatsun350 05-30-2007 11:01 PM

I couldn't believe it when I saw that stg-44!!:13:

The girl holding the rifle kind of looks like Natalie Wood when she was younger - it's not, but when I first looked at it I thought this may have been an "off the set/behind the scenes" photo-op from "Rebel Without a Cause".

As far as the rifle goes, from looks of the front sight, the thin butt-stock and finger grooves in the "sporterized" stock, I would say it's either a sporterized 1898 Krag or possibly, because of the large receiver ring, a sporterized Mauser M98?

.

crunchy2k 05-31-2007 2:25 AM

Jeeze, I thought it was Natalie Woods too...as for the gun, that is 1903 front sight, a krag sporterized stock and no 1903 magazine/single fire groove on the stock..Lack of rear sight after the ring. Mauser, Springfield, Krag is out of the question. The lay of the 1917 leather sling denotes a .22 cal training rifle. Closing her left eye is a faux paux. My dad trained with a 22 cal in high school ROTC in 1938-40....Maybe this is that gun. My guess is its a Krag 1898 .22 cal training rifle. 840 manufactured between 1906 and 1908 (source 1998 standard catalog of firearms.) There is a discrepancy about weather the training rifle was a carbine or full rifle.

A firearm in a high school being fired by a student?! WTF?! In the US?! What?! Hehe my mom used to shoot on her high schools rifle team in North Carolina.

I wish America was like that again.

Good eye picking out the VZ-52. It took me a few seconds to find it, I really had to look for it.
