I might be able to make this, but I have never been to Burro. Do you have a link to Burro's policy on .50 BMG/.50 DTC. Can we shoot ammo with steel content there? I looked for this info on their site, but found nothing.

pennys dad 09-24-2010 6:42 PM

50 is fine there. Steel core is only OK when they are not in fire season. In Nov it is possible we will be out of fire season. Best case is to call them.

You can bring Propane grills - yes.
Yes, for this event, we encourage it - if you bring one U may be asked to cook some ;)
This would absolutely be the right crowd getting advise and executing right at the shooting line.

So the range in open to all Calgunners? I thought it would just be for the teams entered

There will also be a general firing line for non competitors.

+1! But, Why would you just want to do a general shoot, when you can join a team and lose to ours! ;)

Since I am unable to compete in the tactical shoot due to physical limitations, I would be more than happy to have your presence on the general shooting line which is where I'll be.:)

Exposed should be happy and thankful that I am not. While active, I was on the dept. shooting team and shot DX (290+ consistently). I also won numerous medals in the Police Olympics and was an alternate for the "real" Olympics. He would have been soundly trounced and embarrassed.

Actually, none of those events occurred; I just wanted to scare Exposed for a little bit and get his adrenalin flowing.:D

Lol @ Retired. For a minute there, while reading your post I thought to myself "Really! Wow! He should give me a couple of pointers". Lol!

My grandpa used to tell the same stories, cause no one else was alive when these "events" took place and therefore no one could call BS

Since most of the people I worked with are still alive, would be able to contradict me and it would be too much trouble to make them "disappear,";) I had to come clean.:D

So, I will be looking for you Mr. AlliedArmory on the general range.:)

Nah probably not. Just going to go hang out and shoot the #&*! with the boys

Foulball 09-30-2010 8:35 PM

Jacob,

I'd be in to cook/bbq for those wanting to shoot at the lines. I was just out there on the 18th of Sept. and probably won't be restocked with ammo by Nov.
I'll still bring my toys with me though just in case.

For those of us running standard shotguns with chokes, what is the recommended choke for the course?

I'm thinking as little constriction as possible. C, IC or SK.

Every target you will be engaging will be less than 25 yards. It will be a combination of paper targets and clays. You'll have to figure out what works best for you.

I have never been to Burro. How does this work, where do i pay my 15 bucks. Also we have private ranges? Do we need to bring tables? Can we wear our weapons in holsters? I couldnt find answers to these questions on their site. Thanks guys im excited to meet some calgunners!!

Beetle Bailey 10-30-2010 7:50 PM

When you first get to Burro Canyon Shooting Park, go to the office (it's on the left) and tell them you are with the Calguns group for the private bays but it's your first time there so you need directions on how to get to your bay. You sign in and pay them (it's usually $20 a person for the private bays so I guess Jacob got us a discount) and they give you an orange sticker to put on your back. The sticker indicates that you paid and then just go to the appropriate bay.

Tables and chairs and especially canopies like an EZ-Up are definately a good idea.
