What is the "Holy Grail" of your handgun collection?

I only have three handguns, but for me, I'd love to own an O.G. WWII era German Luger someday. I just need the $$$ for it.

id have to say, there are 3 handguns I have been lusting over for as long as i can remember. glock 30, mac11 and draco AK pistol. i bought the glock 30 the day i turned 21, i just picked up my MPA30T yesterday, and in about 40 days il have myself a romanian draco.

so im pretty happy with my collection right now!!

but i do need an s&w 629 .44 mag revolver too

Markus 04-19-2011 11:18 AM

My holy grail handgun would be a blued 4 inch colt python. Id love to own one just I dont have the cash.

sigfan91 04-19-2011 11:21 AM

Sig P210, any dash.

pacifico23 04-19-2011 11:23 AM

A Wilson Combat or Nighthawk. That or if we arent considering legalities g18 of course

Fishslayer 04-19-2011 11:29 AM

I don't really have a "grail gun." Several I've always wanted.

60's (or so) vintage Browning Hi Power is the first gun I seriously lusted after on first sight. I was maybe 10yo. Unlikely I'll ever own one. They go for WAY more than I am willing to put out for a handgun.

S&W 4506. Wanted one since the 80's. Actually had $$$ down on one recently but cancelled it to buy my wife a SIG nine. Not really sorry. The trigger on it was crap and the grips feel cheesy.

"Dirty Harry." But then, who doesn't want a 6.5" M29? :D

If I have a grail gun it would be a first year S&W Model of 1955 Target in .45ACP. My birth year and I really like the cartridge in a wheelgun with moon clips. It would also be a good mate to my skinny barrel M1950 Target. ;)

1nsanity 04-19-2011 11:30 AM

S&W Mod 627 "blood work" snubbie pre lock

No no, those are HOLY GRAILS. I WISH I had those! Are you kidding? You didn't think a Calgunner would have THOSE would you?

Sorry, I thought the question was "the guns that you would want most in your collection" not "HAVE in your collection"! LOL!

Sorry for giving you a heart attack, I don't have those gems. I'd have to have some serious connections to get those!

tbhracing 04-19-2011 12:11 PM

Two-

1. A German Sig P228 with 3 hi-caps- all in near perfect condition.

2. A Beretta 92FS in brand new condition. (I havent shot it yet)

TMC 04-19-2011 12:14 PM

I've always wanted a Broomhandle Mauser. My uncle had a mint one with matching stock and holster but sold it at a time in his life when he was drinking heavily and before my dad could it from him. What a waste. Still on my list be good ones are expensive and I'm broke.

Colt Delta Gold Cup: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...08#post6232708

Not really my grail gun but my friend has a 1911 in .460 Rowland. Holly crap. A hand cannon with ragged hole accuracy. Much want.

hcbr 04-19-2011 12:34 PM

Desert Eagle in 50ae, 44 mag and 357 mag so i can change out the barrels and have fun with any strong caliber! wheeeee

Super Spy 04-19-2011 12:37 PM

I really want a Ma Deuce...the sight of it alone makes gun grabbers poo their pants.

gorenut 04-19-2011 12:39 PM

Has to be my S&W 627PC 8 shot. Everything I could ask for in a revolver. I sold the first one I had, but eventually got another one. After you get so used to the fine-tuned trigger and how little space there is between each hole in an 8-shot cylinder.. all other revolvers pale in comparison.

Now if given the choice out of my immediate reach...

really wouldn't mind trying out a Sig P210 or a Medusa Revolver.

completely out of my realm... a Medusa cylinder paired with Rhino frame (though possibly still built out of the same materials of the Medusa)

Call_me_Tom 04-19-2011 12:40 PM

If I had the cash it would be a Wilson Combat CQB Tactical LE.

himurax13 04-19-2011 12:40 PM

A Pheonix Arms HP-22 ;).

I shoot and train with my collection. I am not a collector in the sense that I let them sit in the safe and look pretty. I don't have a problem with people doing that, I've just never been able to do it. I end up selling off the fancy stuff to fund more daily shooters. I suppose I would consider a really high-end 1911 from Ed Brown, Wilson Combat or Nighthawk my holygrail. Something you would still shoot and train with but costs so much you should keep it in the safe. I just can't justify the expense since I am happy with what I have.

Hah, way to take this thread to a way too practical realm. While I completely agree with you and would never own a gun that I'd hesitate to take out every time I go to the range.. I think the spirit of this thread is if the gun magically appeared in your safe and you could never sell or something.

CSACANNONEER 04-19-2011 1:06 PM

My holy grail shooter would be my Kimber Pro CDPII. As far as collector gus go, probably my original Colt .36cal. As far as "cool" handguns go, my small (3 pieces) collection of pepperboxes.

oghl888 04-19-2011 1:09 PM

No such thing. Each has its deficiencies and compromises.

I own and shoot my NHC GRP and Colt Python 6". Really reminding me of the joy of owning fine pieces of machinary.

The snake collection -2 that I have is my inhouse holy grail. Finding the other 2 remaining revolvers to complete the set would be my ongoing grail.

Bullwinkle 04-19-2011 1:11 PM

The Holy Grail handgun for me ever since they were first introduced is a Guncrafter Industries Model 1 .50GI w/matching .45ACP conversion unit. [Actually, I'd prefer the Model 3 now.] Only about $3500 short with no "disposable" income on the horizon for several years (decades?) to come. Horrible predicament. :( But it would only be a safe queen anyway (the queen of queens).

Some other nice ones were already mentioned... 6" (not 4") Royal Blue Colt Python, Dirty Harry SW29, Luger Navy model (6"), and Broomhandle Mauser. All great choices, and I'd want them all in pristine, wildly embellished, presentation-quality condition, of course. Oh, and swap my Walther P-1 for a vintage P-38, too, while we're at it.

Or... how about... Colt SAA or 1911 serial #1? :D

tonelar 04-19-2011 1:15 PM

In my collection, almost everything gets shot... Years ago, I'd have said my W German P220 American.
However, the gun(s) I have invested the most amount of time into acquiring AND getting dialed in to just the way I want them to be are my Navy Arms (.44 Russians mod'd to look like S&W .44Americans). I shoot them in CAS matches whenever I have the ammo and opportunity.

Of my collection, my colt 1903 type 1.

My blue 1941 Military Colt 45ACP--all original. Pete

When I read the question I was thinking more of a one of a kind mint condition collectors item from WWI or WWII that would be an absolute sin to shoot. Something that could never be replaced. Maybe your own grandfather's 1911 that he carried during the war then only took it out to clean it once a month. Something like that would be my true holigrail. History, sentimental value, and dollar value all rolled into one item. Sadly, I don't have anything like that in my collection. But I do have some guns I cherish for sentimental reasons.

I have a couple shotguns my grand father left me. I treat them like collectors items. I clean them regularly and only shot them once since inheriting them. They don't have a great deal of dollar or historical value, but they are priceless because of their sentimental value.

I'll feel that way about my father's Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum when i eventually inherit it. Not because it is in perfect condition, or because of its dollar value, but because it is my father's favorite gun. The fact that I am not a revolver guy won't matter. Because it will be more about my Dad than the gun itself. That one I'll shoot...but not abuse.

OCM 04-19-2011 1:22 PM

Colt Boa NIB. Complete "Snake" collection.

tonelar 04-19-2011 1:27 PM

Wait, is this thread about a gun we are always on the hunt for? Or about what we've found?

desertmedic 04-19-2011 1:30 PM

HK P7M13... Ive always thought that was the coolest pistol. Im working on my Kimber Ultra Covert II.
