Davis Levee Cleanup Pics October 16th, 2010

This is picture intensive but this was somewhat of a major undertaking because wow there was far more garbage here than what I had thought and I had an actual on-site perspective on the amount of stuff here and I believed that trailers would be unnecessary. I was wanting to avoid having people bring trailers to save the hassle but in reality I think I made things more difficult due to everyone having to lift everything into the truck beds!

Day begins..... We were there from 8:30 to 11:30 and finally left the landfill around noon.

The I-Man makes repeat appearances... I must say I impress even myself with my superb photo-shop skills. The realism is stunning even to me!

Holy hell! What a mess up there, thanks for taking the time to clean up that shooting area and giving gunners a better name.

Five yes (5) truck loads of trash look to the far right for the dark colored Toyota. It blends in with the bush. Unfortunately I forgot to get a closeup of the trash in the Toyota.

and of course SCOOB I E for setting it up, oh and by the way, let's not invite the guy who is always adjusting his tie, and his junk, next time, and his "thinner" twin. we could have gotten more work done, if he wasn't standing around posing for pictures.:laugh::laugh:

Awesome job guys. I have never been there but seeing the results brings a smile to my face. :jump:

Hey man, I gotta look good for my pictures. :D Anyway, I think I can still find it in my heart to forgive you guys for cutting up my golf cart. :cheers2:

diginit 10-17-2010 8:14 PM

Nice! It sucks that we have to clean up Aholes messes. Makes me wonder if they know what toilet paper is for. Much less how it is used. I think I would have blown the golf cart out of the water with some Tannerite. You should have taken it to a recycling center instead of the dump and made some gas money. Good Job!

That was terribly creepy and awkward the entire time wasn't it?
And as you will notice by referencing the group pic they both had the same nasty habit. They're twins after all so it makes sense right? But yes you're right never again!

Oh and on that topic as far as me getting credit?.... It was me who asked all of you the favor so as to whether I should get credit for being there is something that is still up for debate. At least that's how I look at it. ;)

shmeare 10-29-2010 9:37 AM

oh, i missed out! next time you guys go back up there i want to help out too.

choclab 11-08-2010 9:02 PM

New to the site - I'd be glad to help out next time! Anything to give gun owners and hunters a better name - especially in California!

PowderBurn1 11-08-2010 10:12 PM

Great jobs guys.

Eargasm 12-12-2010 8:11 PM

Where in Davis is this?

I'd gladly show up to help (Long-time Davis resident); let me know if there's a 'next time'.

Saccityammo 01-07-2011 1:04 AM

GReat Job guys! I'm in west sac and wish i had checked sooner. I shoot at the levy often and always clean up my mess. It was getting out of control out. Next time i know it is getting out of hand I will mention it and organize....Again, GREAT JOB GUYS!

Saccityammo 01-07-2011 1:11 AM

Also, it is ok to shoot out there. Yolo SO rolls by sometimes but they are great. Davis PD goes out there to shoot once in awhile with trainees or to get xtra shooting time in. My G/F is DPD and told me this, this is how i learned of it.

Yeah, i'd be interested to know the ins-and-outs of this location, being in Davis as well.

The Electrician 01-07-2011 2:25 PM

wow! What a mess! lmao @ i man

V8toytruck 01-08-2011 7:13 PM

Well done..very well done

Dirk Tungsten 01-08-2011 9:31 PM

I'm shocked this thread has been necro'd...I personally haven't been out there to shoot for a while since I found myself getting the stink eye from some farmer guy who was putting up No Hunting/Trespassing signs all over the place out there. INCLUDING the levy, which I thought was public land. Oh yeah, I also ran into some dudes in duck hunting getup who told me they saw some guys shooting guns out there, so they called the cops (WTF?)

Aaaaaaand I ran out there today just to see the condition of the place and what had recently appeared, but these signs:
http://i52.tinypic.com/2ufsrxd.jpg
And:

Indicating that there is no trespassing allowed. I guess shoot at your own risk?

glockwise2000 01-09-2011 9:10 PM

Great job guys.

pyromensch 01-10-2011 7:12 PM

apparently shooting the signs, is ok. what about the (was it water resources), guy, that let us out of there. he was state employee, he didn't mention anything, did he?

don't see any printing at the bottom of the signs that say, who printed them.
someone paid for them though.

hey, saccity,
check with your GF, and see if she can find out about these new postings, that is, if it doesn't cause an issue.

scoob_i_e 01-11-2011 6:20 AM

Well this is utterly embarrassing. All I can say is this; from two independent sources, I received information that this area was public land. The Dept. of Water Resources and the Public Works division for the County of Yolo both affirmed the land belonged to the city, that in fact the area was not private property. Furthermore, Public Works commented that the gating was there merely to prevent unauthorized vehicular traffic and unauthorized vehicular traffic only and that it had nothing to do with pedestrian traffic.

Don't know what else to say..... I was only going based on what I was told from two different entities (of which both should have been an authoritative source of information.)

Purple K 01-11-2011 12:02 PM

Sometimes folks illegally post signs even though the property is public (beaches, BLM, etc).

pyromensch 01-11-2011 6:32 PM

i am going to pm sac city, with this message, in case he doesn't check this thread

Saccityammo 01-11-2011 10:12 PM

hey guys i will check and find out....but last i heard it was pulic county/.state land it was ok to shoot there. I will dbl check. I am in LE and if the above is correct it should be ok to shoot. I will check with my source at DPD directly and he will tell me straight up what is going on..stay tuned boys and girls...i have a feeling earth dickwads or the farmers posted those signs. they look real but dont look real feel me :)

Saccityammo 01-11-2011 10:31 PM

email sent off guys...when i hear more i will let you know!

Saccityammo 01-12-2011 9:57 AM

Ok bad news...........they are legit signs,. I spoke to a fellow rangemaster from DPD....he says the signs are new and legit. he thinks it was posted because of the jack asses who dumped the garbage not because of the shooters. SOOOOOOOOO it looks like we lost the Davis levee because of white trash to cheap to pay for the dump up the road....Sorry so shoot there at your own risk :(
