does anyone know if Microsoft hosts HIPAA compliant email services in the cloud (not talking about outlook 365) someone mentioned that microsoft uses
Voltage to do this. not sure if it is true or not.

if anyone knows the name of Microsofts service or any other service to provided end-to-end encryption for HIPAA i greatly appreciate it. hardware or software or service

thanks!!!!

Are you referring to the Microsoft Exchange Online where they host your MS Exchange Server for you and you can use your own Outlook email client to connect?

no i was thinking more of a sevice where you have an local exchange server but you connect to a filtering cloud that encrypts emails end to end and provides a link to the recipient to view the encrypted email in the cloud.

You could pretty easily use Microsoft IRM to do that if you wanted to have your Exchange server(s) on-premise. A number of other solutions as well. However, the state of CA uses Office 365, including their HIPAA regulated content. It's encrypted "at rest" which is the requirement for most all types of data. Hit me offline if you want to chat more. I did the email design for John Muir, Kaiser, Blue Shield Hawaii and have written a few books on the topic. Happy to help out

McAfee sells a box you could put with the email server that does this. McAfee Email Gateway. Easy to set up... comes with support if easy is too hard.

But the end user experience is the same as your are describing; just the "cloud" / webserver is in your rack. Hospitals use it / it is compliant.

I'm not a web guy but I've set them up. The instructions say what type of cert to get; you install it via a gui / whole thing is gui based, et cetera.
