Don't do this (Ruger Mark III)

After field striping the Mark III (Yellow parts), to begin upgrading the hammer and bushing and removing the magazine disconnect. (Green Parts).

Don't push on pin 49 (sear pin) instead of Hammer Pin 44 (I should know better I've done this upgrade before).

The sear and spring will fall to the bottom of the frame and you will then have to push the hammer pin (44) all the way out, instead of just part way out (which is

all that's need to get to the green parts), resulting in in a huge pile of parts (Yellow, Green, Blue and Red) to put back, and a crash course in detail

reassembly of the Mark III pistol.

For which you"ll need this link: http://www.guntalk-online.com/detailstrip.htm

Interestingly this mistake has made me feel that I could do the upgrade to the Ruger's internals that I've seen other do on this forum, de-burring the frame
and upgrading the firing components of the pistol. That's what happened with my 1911's and S&W revolvers. I had to learn to fix them and upgrade them.

This happened to me with my 22/45 but I'm actually glad it did. I learned how everythin works and if you group the small parts into their little group it's actually pretty simple.

I remember the first time I attempted to take my 22/45 apart when I took it home...

I almost made the same mistake the first time I did that. I was super lucky that my neighbor and fellow gun freak was there and caught me before I did it! lol. Glad it worked out for you.
