You can always apply to the Sheriff Dept, even if your town has a PD. In Lu vs Baca, the court said that the Sheriff Dept has to accept and evaluate all CCW applications it receives, regardless if the applicant's city has a police department.

This is true, but it would be interesting to hear what the local PD policy is....

madsend81 05-05-2014 9:39 AM

It's probably the same policy as every other PD in LA County, but just to settle all doubts, it would be nice to hear straight from the horse's mouth.

wireless 05-14-2014 10:25 PM

I sent my application in early march and still haven't had my check cashed.

Sigma Pi 05-22-2014 11:54 AM

Everyone else has the ball rolling except us :(

flyonwall 05-22-2014 2:33 PM

What do you mean? We are fully briefed in the 9th and the panel just stayed the Los Angeles cases pending issuance of mandate. We will likely get relief the day after Peruta.

They're all effectively No IIRC.

Still no check cash or contact from LASD. Sent in application early march. It's been about 75 days.

Thank you for the update. I have been reluctant to even apply. I'm 10 minutes from the OC border.. I am strongly considering just making the move.

Any luck yet? I sent my application in April and the check was cashed two weeks later. I recently received a letter from LASD stating "We are processing these application as quickly as our resources allow; however, you should expect a delay due to the volume of application"

Also included was a number for further questions "please contact my Executive Aide Lieutenant at (323) 526-5118"

I hope so, I'll keep you updated. I attached a copy of the letter.

wireless 07-10-2014 5:08 PM

I sent mine in on February 17th or 18th. Whichever monday that was after the ruling. I finally got a letter about two weeks ago (5 months) saying my application is on hold.

palakaboy 08-26-2014 8:29 PM

Any updates??? Rumblings???

tower 09-01-2014 10:10 AM

Here's the latest news I've been able to find. It's from the mouth of Peruta's atty.

Lifeon2whls 10-06-2014 4:36 PM

I was going to wait until Peruta was settled but I'm not good at waiting - plus I was going through the LASD CCW polices and read:

Remember, it is a Privilege, not a right to carry a concealed weapon.
That just got me even more flamed and want to fight to get it.

Steemax 11-12-2014 7:21 AM

First off Congrats everyone! This is unbelievable and feels like a dream but it sure is reality!

Well... now that Peruta V San Diego has offically finalized lets keep this thread up to date on anything we hear from the LASD. I'm wondering if they're going to go into hiding until we/someone starts pressuring them.

Such great news to receive on my Bday!

madsend81 11-12-2014 7:23 AM

Happy Birthday Steemax.

For those that don't know what Steemax is talking about:

I'm sure keeping this thread up to date with the latest info won't be an issue.

Thank you sir!
I just haven't been this excited since I first tasted ice cream.

Agent Akin 11-12-2014 8:55 AM

Huh.

Glad I got my app in months ago, could be... quite a few... more about to be sent in...

fighterpilot562 11-12-2014 10:00 AM

Now after I get a job, maybe ill apply for one.

kygen 11-12-2014 10:19 AM

I'll wait and see if people actually start getting them approved in LA. Then I'll put in my app ;)

I'm with you. Hate to be a Debbie Downer. Just trying to be realistic.

Steemax 11-12-2014 10:32 AM

I don't blame you guys.
We've lost all hope in our County so if we get any sort of movement here it will be amazing.

I submitted my app a week ago and got the pending Peruta letter so lets see if the people who submitted it earlier are going to see any updates from the Sherrif.

Just submit it now. I'm sure there are a few thousand people who submitted theirs a while back. Me being one. Mine was submitted in March. If they take application in, I'd hate to see you guys wait an extra 6-7 months.

Yeah just fill it out now. Better to get in line now than later!
Just remember, fill everything out, even sign everything even the parts where it wants a witness. (Of course leave the witness signature and badge # blank)

khw9mm 11-12-2014 11:06 AM

Awesome news!

09cs 11-12-2014 11:09 AM

Yugo 11-12-2014 11:12 AM
