Sewet Gun Range 1,000 yard range. Anyone been there?

Anyone been there? I'm thinking about checking this place out. Please post your experience below or pictures. or if you live near there check it out for our fellow calgunners ? Thanks

From the photo "Range fee $25" PER HOUR higher than any other ranges I have been to. $25 the whole day I'm fine with, but if its a quality range and no bs and FUD from range master it might be worth it? *cough cough unlike Lytle creek even though its the closest one I would never go there unless I'm just using shooting bolt action.

Typical long range data collection on various ranges and ammo type, zero rifle and cease fires in between firing to set targets up, most likely 4-6 hours if not more? $25x ~5= ~$125 per session? Probably better to pay the $1,000 annual for unlimited range time.

Here's some question I sent to the range

What are the range fees for the 1,000 yard? same as other $25 per hour?
How many lanes are available in 1,000 yard range?
What are the ammunition restriction?
What are the cease fire time intervals? if any?
Are there steel targets or gongs already setup or bring our own?
Are there rental target stands?
Are there wind speed indication flags setup?
Are there distance markers like 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 etc.
Is the 1,000 yard range flat or angled up or down hill?

When I get the answer I'll post it here.

$25/hour? ill pass, even if it has a 1000 yard range

jmaglipay 02-07-2013 2:27 AM

That's way to expensive. When I go to the range I'm there 3-4 hours. That's 75-100$ on just range fees not including possible targets, shooting rest and stands. I'm not sure if they will let you set your own targets at 1k yards unless you have a golf cart. Angeles shooting range in foothill has a 600 yards range. The 12$ and 6$ on thrusday

kel-tec-innovations 02-07-2013 7:51 AM

Hopefully this range realize they won't be getting much shooter if its that expensive. When I first read $25 per hour. I thought I miss read it. They say they will get back to me with better answers.

guitarman584 02-07-2013 9:07 AM

Wow, $25 an hour? It costs that much for a box of my ammo. I've been wanting to shoot long distances but I'll just find some blm land instead.

25 an hour...no thanks, Ill see you in the dez.

Sewet Gun Range review

**Thread bump**
I'll chime in since I went here with a few buddies recently and had a great time. Yah, I just joined the forum and all, but I'm not affiliated there in anyway. First of the all the cost is indeed pricy, considering the commercial indoor places closer to home than Anza. In my mind, what you are paying for is privacy and the ability to move, shoot, and transition as you desire to do. It is on Indian land and the rules, regs, and restrictions are not what you would find elsewhere. As the manager stated, big boy rules apply and he understood that we were experienced shooters and veterans.
Also, being three of us made it 15 per hour, and as it was not busy first thing Sunday morning we were certainly not limited to one lane. We started out shooting pistol, shotgun, and SKS using the short range area where there is also an old truck you can shoot from/over. As for targets, the hourly fee includes use of standard paper targets and there are several staple guns floating around, but next time I'll bring my own. The included target stands are wood driven into the ground with thick plastic silhouettes to staple paper to. Some d-bag had shredded a few of the stands with buckshot, but the guy said he replaces them periodically. Bring your own steel/spinners. Like I said its a permissive environment, I even asked if I could bring out some melons to hit with JHP'S and he said surrrrre!
Of course the dynamic area is where it was worth the while. Where else can you and your buddies do a 3-man assault and maneuver, bounding to and from concealment, firing on multiple spaced targets and transitioning between weapons and doing tac reloads? Yeah, in the open desert sure but its all legal here and nobody's gonna bother you.
As for other restrictions, steel ammo is ok and for cease fire it was just the three of us communicating with each other. I'm sure if it got busy or if noob presence was detected, the manager would get more involved with timing. Oh, and lastly you are free to keep your brass as well as collect any other brass that people didn't want. My buddy reloads and left with several hundred 5.56 casings he didn't come with.
Any other questions?

-Chris

^ sorry but I can do all that in the desert on blm land for free.

Droppin Deuces 03-22-2013 12:02 AM

Heard about this range a while back and was pretty turned off by the prices. Ares Armor will be running some classes there, so I may eventually check it out that way.
I have a spot in the desert where I can shoot 1200-1300 yards, so the long range thing isn't that much of a draw for me.

DavidR310 03-22-2013 3:20 AM

The 29 Palms range goes out 1000 yards and cost $50 a year. No RSO's to mess with you either.

Chaze 03-30-2013 3:10 PM

David, do you have details on good pistol spots out near 29P? I'm usually out there about every other month.

Eat Dirt 04-04-2013 11:13 PM

I checked thier site
And thier goggle map picture showes the Cahuilla Casino...:

Priced too high for me
I'll stay out in open areas / without a fee

CALRaider 04-26-2013 7:13 PM

40 USD gets you an all day pass. I don't know if that makes it more worth it to you, but I'm just passing the information.

All right, so I always try to experience before I make an assessment. If you go to this range---and I do recommend going to it if it's within an hour of you---go with the intent to make it an ALL DAY deal. Pay the 40 USD and go to the different shooting bays.

Where you go shoot---there's probably not steel set up for you already---there's probably not barriers and vehicles for you to use as cover as you fire and move.

If there is, I need to get read into those locations.

To me---having a known location I can go to and not worry about much that has everything already set up for me---I'll pay the 40 bucks. Shooting all day is still cheaper for me than when I skydived all day.

I don't really. There is a spot on the way to Amboy, but I don't know the details since I am literally a few miles from the HD Rod n Gun club.

Sewet Gun Range 1,000 yard range. Anyone been there?

That place could have been a gold mine! Its 10 min outside Temecula and 600+ steel targets. Chris the wannabe knife ninja is an idiot! I truly have never met such a douche before. Every time we shot there he was acting like god oh mighty. I would love to put azz whipping on his little fat azz.Needless to say every company that came in contact with them bailed out. No structure or range master it was a disaster waiting to happen.Closed to the single shooter public and overpricing groups by appointment only..Genius! Dumb azz!!
