School me on recievers for AMD-65..

I have a AMD-65 kit with a 14.5 inch barrel (16" with AMD muzzle thingie attched).
What receiver do I need? I want to do a fixed stock carbine build, not folding.
Will a regular receiver work? I found a pre-folded 80% Polish AKM 47 Receiver Blank, will that work? Or is there a specific AMD-65 reciver?

The only difference that I know of between standard AKM and AMD flats are the cutouts in the AMD flat for the strange folding stock. If you have a fixed stock rear trunnion, use the standard AKM flat. Someone who knows more than me will pop in soon I'm sure. But I'm sitting here looking at one of each side by side.

Arisaka is correct, if you want a fixed stock get a normal ak-47 fixed stock 80%. I personally would stay away from the polish 80% receivers, there are some bad reviews out there about them. You can not go wrong with an ak-builder flat!

Yep^^ Plus AK-Builder offers the standard AKM flat with both front and rear trunnion holes drilled! Wish they had that back when I build my first one....

if you want to use a collapsible stock like on a AR you will need to change the rear trunnion. you need the rear trunnion from a AKM type. you will need this trunnion for a fixed type also. you can use a bolt to make the original wire stock stay open.
dont forget you have to pin and weld the muzzle brake. its under 16 inches.

this one will work.

By fixed stock do you mean using the AMD rear end with the folding stock non-functional, or are you switching to a standard AKM rear end?

If you're using the AMD rear end you can make the cutouts for the mechanism pretty easily.

No I want a standard AK rear stock. I'm thinking an ACE fixed stock.
I like the AMD-65 front end that's all.

Why not get a 16" barrel and make something that looks like a AMD-63 then? Here's the AMD-63 parts kit I bought in '99 for $99.

THATS what I want! I like the look of the 65 muzzel brake. I already have the kit. I just decided I should get around to building this thing before I get married and I have to share a checking account with someone :(

That used a standard AKM receiver. I built that on an NDS-3 but, an AK Builder AKM flat would work perfectly. Get the one WITHOUT pre drilled trunion holes.
