CGN "Adopt-a-Highway" UOC "Armed Ladies Clean Up" Teams!

I was reading http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=148494 and some posts on the first two pages started me thinking about how we could do something similar and use it to our advantage.

My idea: have CGN adopt sections of highway in NorCal and SoCal and have a Unloaded Open Carry (UOC) "Armed Ladies Clean-Up!" day.

Our CGN ladies will all wear tan work boots, hiking boots, or white tennis shoes; khaki shorts; and, perhaps have Vic could make a run of pink CGN Tees for them: http://www.gunsr4.us/page2.html The baseball caps at: http://www.gunsr4.us/ might also come in handy. (No, I'm not Vic and I won't make any money off of this.)

We'd need between 6 to 12 ladies (too few and the media won't show up; too many and the need for handguns for safety is negated). Hopefully, they'll all look quite attractive in the outfit/team uniform. Ideally, many of the ladies will be "minorities" (i.e., non-white). (Since whites are no longer the majority in CA, we're ALL minorities now!) We need to break the stereotype of pro-RKBA activists as being overweight, middle-aged white guys!

We'd want to choose the location for both its proximity to where the NorCal and SoCal ladies teams were located, as well as its suitability for being cleaned in those outfits (which are designed to both promote CGN and get media attention) So, no low brush to scrape legs, no poison oak/ivy, mostly just weeds. Some factors to be used in choosing the adopted highway location include maximum exposure to being viewed from the highway for both impact on travelers and the ladies' safety; high flow of traffic along that highway on weekends (since that is when most ladies would be able to do this during warm daylight hours); away from "school zones", etc.; and how the area will look when viewed by a TV audience.

Ideally, one or more of the ladies will be an off-duty LEO. Some of them will be unarmed observers w/video cameras (to be posted on YouTube) and ideally some maybe lawyers. All armed ladies should have digital audio recorders to record any interactions as well as cellphones and the other prudent measures the www.OpenCarry.Org people have developed.

There should be NO MEN PRESENT lest we give out the impression that these men are exploiting the women to do the work while they just watch. Having men also there removes the novelty and negates the underlying message of the event. This event is about the 2nd A RKBA empowering women to the point where they feel safe being by themselves in somewhat revealing outfits on a (isolated?) highway roadside w/o any men around to protect them.

If they think it wisest, they could have their bf's/husbands/male CGN'ers drive by on the highway at regular intervals to ensure their safety/non-harassment, and perhaps be in radio contact w/them. But no guys "on the ground"!

Since we'll invite/inform the media, one or more of the ladies should be a spokeswoman who will field questions/interviews from the media. Ideally, she has been in this type of position before and is experienced and comfortable at it.

I'm sure the combination of a bunch of pretty women in pink T-shirts & tan shorts packing handguns as they pick up trash alone on along a highway on a warm summer day will get local TV cameras and air time on a slow news day. If you doubt me, just remember how many posts and views the "Girls w/Guns" thread gets. I know I'd stay up for the eleven o'clock news to watch it! ;)

Naturally, the ladies themselves are free to change anything above they think best. I just had the idea, wanted to develop it somewhat so that they could get an idea of what I was thinking, and then let them run with it if they so choose. Naturally, if CGN gals like this idea, but there is not enough of them, they can post a "Help Wanted" thread and see if some CGN guys might talk their gfs/wives into joining.

Of course, all of this should be cleared by the higher ups at CGN/CGF (and maybe even the NRA/CalNRA) and not be done until post-Nordyke incorporation (assuming we get that) at earliest.

Thoughts?

Great idea. We should just have a calguns clean up so that there is some publicity.

Not gonna happen anytime soon. CalTrans has suspended any future permits for Adopt a highway until they reevaluate the guidelines.

Who says the venue to clean up has to be a highway? Streets, parks, walking trails, informal shooting ranges, blighted city property. Take your pick.

If I dress up as a girl, can I join? ;)

I think this is a good idea..if not highway area but somewhere with good traffic flow...IF done I think it would be best to get backing by all of those you suggested and maybe a few other womens self defence groups. We would have to research areas and groups but I think it would work...Keep me posted...
