What started your gun addiction.
For me it was buying my son a .22, we had such a good time shooting it I bought myself a remington 700 .270 and got my hunting license. Then shotguns and then handguns. what was your moment of no turning back?

When I got a book about guns.

What was the book?
When i bought my first home and figured i needed something to protect my wife and i. Thanks Mossberg!
My Dad, he's to blame. Always had guns around. The term "bite-the-bullet" was taken literally!
When I was a kid my uncle, who's a cop use to take me to the range. I was hooked after that.
About a year and a half a go I decided I wanted to purchase a gun. Bought a Sig p226. Since then I've been hooked, spend about an hour or 2 a day on Calguns and multiple visits to the range.
I've always felt a little naked without a weapon. So I corrected that with G20 and will never look back. Both my parents have been anti-weapon ever since I could remember.
I grew up shooting. Started getting guns as bday/xmas gifts when I was 8 years old.
I first took an interest in guns in 1998. I was 16 and I had just gotten "Metal Gear Solid" for the PlayStation for Christmas. I remember Solid Snake toting an H&K Mark 23 Prototype with a suppressor and LAM. It was the most badass-looking gun I had ever seen and I wanted one. And one of the villains was Revolver Ocelot, who used a pair of Colt SAA's and called it "the finest handgun ever made." I knew that when I got older, I would definitely get a handgun. It only took me 14 years later to get one, lol.

Had guns in the house but never used them, always been very interested and intrigued by guns. bought my first rifle when I turned 19, shortly thereafter read the book "Patriots" and found calguns. Straight up addict ever since, blossomed into more guns, reloading, and best of all a love affair with introducing new people to the wonderful hobby of shooting.
Always wanted a gun so earlier this year I finally bought an M&P9 as a birthday gift for myself. Told myself I only needed 1 gun. Then I said well I have to have a rifle, so I got an AR. Then I said I gotta have an AK, then a 870, and now I'm picking up a 10/22 next week. :D
I've always had a couple firearms. then caught a burglar and had a knife pulled on me. Bought a HD shotgun that week and its snowballed tremendously since then, especially this last year -18 mos. 4 pistols, 2 ARs and 2 80% lowers, new safe , 1000s... Of rounds.
Expensive hobby. |
First wife gave me a 10-22 for Christmas.Best gift ever.Still have it.
@#$% Computer.
my grandfathers 38 special snubbie... that lead to my glock 21 purchase....have not looked back since
On a whim, traded a mountain bike for a Smith and Wesson .44 magnum revolver.
It's been all downhill from there. :D |
cap guns when I was six or seven? As a child, I would occasionally go shooting with my next door neighbor who had a number of guns.
The first gun I owned was a rifle I purchased when I turned 18. Of all the hobbies and interests I have had over the years, it's the one that I have never lost interest in. |
Good friends, good times, and calguns......it's just plain fun
Walton's Grizzly Lodge summer camp!!! They started me out on Daisy air rifles then upgraded me to the .22 rifle range once I turned 11. When my Dad realized I was interested in firearms, he started taking me to the range with a .22 rifle and by the time I hit middle school there was no turning back.
My pops started taking me shooting around age 8 and bought me my first pistol, a S&W Model 63 .22 revolver, at age 9.
My grand-uncle, RIP, tossed a gun catalogue at me at age 10 and told me to pick out whatever I wanted. I picked out a Ruger Mark II, like my dad's, blued and with a 5 inch barrel. Then my pops gave me his Beretta 92F when I was 25, and I was lost. |
Uncle was a collector and got me into them.
My first gun S&W 22A, After owning that pos for a while I figured there had to be something better out there. Been buying ever since. Getting a CW9 on Saturday too.
when i was about 12 years old i was given a .22 rifle as a gift. the same people that gave it to me as a gift "borrowed" it from me, and i never saw it again. i never forgot.
My dad was a cop (security forces) in the air force, competed on their shooting team.
One of my favorite pictures was me at 3 years old holding an m16a1. Later I grew up with both my parents collecting guns, and eventually giving it up to just one night stand piece each. So now I have the rest of their guns, just bought my first off a cal gunner after about 4 months of serious shooting. |
It was the freaking rats... Yes I said RATS!! When I bought my house I had 9 fruit trees and a ton of rats... Shot 30 of them the first month with a Gamo pellet rifle I bought from Big 5. One neighbor had about a half acre of just ivy on hillside. Well was getting more pellets and someone talked me into going to a field target match at USI... Next thing I know I was shooting small bore silhouettes, high power, benchrest... then everything else..
Grew up with guns just didn't get the bug until then (or should I say RATS).:D |
A picture of all my mom's uncles; they all had revolvers on their hips. When I got my first job one of the first things I bought was a pellet gun; got into WWII history and wanted a gun from every participant and then it just snowballed from there.
When I was 19 I attended a Reserve POST academy, after shooting there I got hooked and bought a .22 rifle, after that it was an illness that never stopped, and it caused me to move to another state to enjoy it.
Strangely enough, shooting and guns helped me and my dad cope with the loss of my mother. |

Been obsessed for as long as I can remember. My parents original weren't planning to buy me toy guns growing up, but that didn't stop me from turning wooden dowels and coat hangers into toy guns. They figured if I was going to be obsessed with it, they might as well point me in the right direction. I started Junior Olympic shooting sports around the age of 10. Not for one single iota in the following 22 years have I ever lost interest in guns. I'm a lifer for sure.
I wouldn't call it an addiction. More like a hobby to me. I switch from dumping a lot of money in to collecting koi's and when they all died. I ended buying a pistol to shoot for fun. Then I bought another pistol, then another pistol, then I got a 22lr rifle, then went back to getting another pistol for competition(which haven't got around doing yet), then a pump shotgun for the home defense and a semi one for shooting clay pigeons, and finally a higher caliber rifle so I can start hunting with my cousins. But, I don't think I'm done yet. :D

"Small Arms Of The World" by Edward Clinton Ezell. i have the book in hardcover (12th Edition). it is described as "An Encyclopedia Of Global Weapons-Over 3500 Entries." i've enjoyed the book, too. |
World War 2.
I remember shooting .22s with my uncle when I was 14/15 and have always been a big history buff; then when I turned 21, I bought my first pistol and it's been picking up ever since then. Never really was around firearms a lot as a child and teenager except those few times, just fell into it I guess.
I have owned guns for 28 tears, not an addict.
I was born.
Meeting Todd jarret at a show!! I liked guns in general but after seeing him shoot I had to buy one!! Then another, then another, and so on and so forth..
I bought a safe and somehow it didn't look right without a gun in it. Now I need a bigger safe cuz my guns are multiplying.
I had always been interested in guns, being a history buff, but never owned any. A few years ago, a friend took me to the range, and that's all she wrote. Four months later I had 6 rifles and 3 handguns. The list is only slowing now because the safe is full.
When my Dad and Grandpa took me out to the family ranch at the age of 6. I always looked forward to shooting .22's and around 8 we shot trap at the ranch. My Dad would buy me the guns I wanted with my allowance money and at 18 and 21 transferred them all over. Then the addiction got really bad, since I got a job at a gun store and shooting range:)
