New .17 HMR!!!
I just entered into the world of .17 HMR ownership! I am excited to say the least. Obviously I have to wait 10 days, but I've been so busy with work lately that 10 days will fly by. I purchased a Savage 93R17 FV so it's got the heavy barrel and black synthetic stock. I got a Redfield 3-9x 42mm Revenge scope for it also. I went on Savage's website and ordered a couple 10rd magazines so they should be here before the 10 days are up. I can't wait to go on my friends property and bust some ground squirrels with it!
I've watched a bunch of youtube videos already, so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. |
Congrats RickRyder! A buddy just got one recently and we sighted it last week. I'm working on him to upgrade the scope.
Overall he's very happy with his and really likes the trigger. He lucked out with a brick of the Hornady V-Max 17gr We're both anxious to see how it will shoot 20gr. |

I have the same rifle with a Center Point 4 X 16 44mm on it, at a 100 yds I put 25 rounds back to back in a hole I could cover with a quarter. You aren't going to like the comb on the stock but a company makes a riser that cures that problem. BTW I have three 17HMR' s.

Just got a 93r17fxp out of jail yesterday. Gona go sight it in this weekend.

I'm picking up a FV tomorrow and starting DROS on a FVSS on the same day. Can't wait to test it at the range!

I love mine! Same model as yours except with a bushnell 6x18 50mm scope on it. Mine does ok with 20 gr winchester which is about 2 1/2" groups but with the hornady 17 gr 1" or less at 100 yds. These are awesome rifles I hope you like it. You might want to get a bigger scope for it tho.

and yeah i have a savage .17 with a bushnell banner |
I'm still waiting for my 10 days to be up, but in the meantime I also bought a Harris 6 - 9 inch bipod for it. So as soon as my 10 days are up, I will mount the scope and bore sight it, mount the bipod and go finish sighting in the scope at 100 yards. I'm really excited to try it on some ground squirrels. So far the only thing I've shot ground squirrels with is my pellet gun and my AR 15, but I honestly think .223 is a little overkill for ground squirrels and I don't really want to waste my AR ammo on them. So, from the videos I've been watching the .17 HMR puts the smack down on those suckers! My pellet gun is great by the way but limited in range. It's a Gamo Hunter 440 with a BSA airgun scope on it.

Call me different! I jailed a Henry lever action .17hmr this past week! My first .17hmr is a Marlin XT-17VRO. Fell in love with the caliber. So much fum to shoot!
Congrats to joining the .17hmr addiction club! Saving for the Volquartsen .17hmr semi auto now! Lol |
And, here is the finished product. Picked it up yesterday. I ordered a few extra 10rd magazines from Savage's website. The Bipod is a Harris Ultra Light and the scope is a Redfield Revenge 3-9x with Weaver medium rings. I got some Hornady ammo and some CCI TNT rounds for it, looking forward to zeroing it in this weekend!
