Any SoCal ranges allow steel jacket ammo?

I have a case of 9mm tula ammo, and nowhere to shoot it.

Does anyone know ANY range -- indoor, outdoor, I don't care -- that allows this stuff? Has anyone actually used it at any SoCal range?

Not likely. You'll need to head to BLM land to shoot it. That's more fun than a range sometimes anyway:D

You can shoot steel at South Bay Rod and Gun.

FourLoko 02-10-2013 3:46 PM

you can shoot steel case anywhere

it's the bi-metal projectile that's the problem

Lemon Grove Rod & Gun in Alpine allows it also. You need to be a member to shoot, or come out with a member.

I'm not aware of any restrictions at winchester canyon gun club.

Rainbow Range, just South of Temecula, will allow anything that's legal. I'm a member and it's a great no-frills range that's very affordable.

Burro Canyon during wet seasons, when ever that is

Quote from their FAQ page:

Why is certain ammunition not allowed at certain times? How can I check to see if the ammunition is allowed?

Steel-jacketed and bi-metal ammunition is not allowed during the dry months of the year due to fire danger. However, we do allow this ammunition to be used during the wet season. The wet months vary from year to year and we will inform you of the start and finish of each season. You can check your ammunition for the presence of steel by touching a magnet to the bullet. Keep in mind that both tracer (orange tip) and steel-core (green tip) ammunition is never allowed.

On Target in Laguna Niguel allows it. (their policies say they don't, but they always tell me its a liability issue so you take responsibility if you start a fire etc).

Oak Tree by Santa Clarita allows it, but only for shooting paper.

ThemBastards 02-21-2013 3:17 PM

Project 2000 in El Cajon, I shoot it there all the time.

SMarquez 02-26-2013 7:18 PM

Haven't had any issues at Lytle Creek. Signs are posted about not allowing AP and tracer. (duh)

Capybara 02-26-2013 8:11 PM

you sure about that? Last year, there was thread saying that they used to but they have changed their policy and we can no longer shoot it there?
