Phone call from San Marcos about pprwrk THEY forgot , 13 months ago

Got a phone message today from the store saying that " they need me to come there to finish some pprwrk " from my PPT last year . The woman , who was polite but saw I lived in LA said " we need you here for just like 5 seconds " .

Why would I have to drive there from LA to fix something they forgot ?

I now live in Central California & have a medical condition that prevents me from driving long distances too .

But again , why should I have to go to them for their mistake 13 months ago ????

Anyone from Corporate wanna answer that ?

By the way , when I did call I mentioned my name because I was told " it would be easy " . The guy said " well we have LOTS of them that were sent back . "

Way to go Turners

P.S.

It was State pprwrk not Federal . So they are mailing me what they need . If it was Federal , I do not see them mailing me a 4473 .

Paperwork errors happen all the time.

I don't believe Turners checks this subforum.

Have you called corporate? Can they fedex or scan and email the forms for your completion?

Hermosa Bch ,

I did edit my post but I have to ask you if they wanted you to spend 10 hours round trip ( 600 miles ) out of your day , time & gas , would you go back ?

I worked for them . There is no reason for a " paperwork " malfunction . When firearms were sold , we filled out by hand , the paper D.R.O.S.'s & they were checked before being put into the mail the next day .

When firearms were picked up , all of the paperwork was checked by the clerk releasing the firearm & then a 2nd person had to sign off that it was correct . Then the assistant mgrs & mgrs would go over it all again before mailing it to corporate for storage .

So again . It should not have happened . And they should not be asking anyone to spend that much time , gas & money for their mistake .

And someone did watch this forum when they started here as an advertiser & if they stopped watching it , it could be due to all of the truthful & not so positive experiences people have had with them recently . And all the opinions posted , the poster just stated their experiences .

No anger . Just can't believe no one thought about mailing me paperwork , when that was what was going though my mind .

And Bob , where do you work for them ? At retail or corporate ? I saw your name & it sounded familiar . Saw your post about " turners top shot ? " looking for rangemasters . One one of the emails was " bobh@turners.com "

You have a medical condition. The store manager can get in his car and drive to you.

If it was a 4473 issue , I was going to recommend a supervisor / manager drive it up . They'd probably be paid to come up to wine country . Win , Win .

Still can not believe that I was told " I know you are far but if you come in it will take like 5 seconds ". They were being honest . The person I spoke to later said " oh , I can just mail it to you . " And that they did . I mailed it back .

Funny thing also , when I worked at the Lawndale store (162nd & Hawthorne Blvd , pre Redondo Bch ) we were told that if we screwed up the paperwork they would be fined $200.00 for each 4473 / D.R.O.S. that was wrong / mistakenly filled out . That's why the paperwork was went over extensively .

I picked up a gsg1911-22 on Monday and they charged me for cable lock. When I just opened case and looked for paperwork on handgun and takedown wrench i found another cable lock there. If you go to get firearm ask before you pay. They charged me on first day of dros. Only 6 bucks but i don't need more of those. I just called them ansd they said if I want bring the paperwork and the lock and they will refund my 6 bucks. Very nice on phone.

An FFL called me a few months after I received my gun. They told me they needed my fingerprint for their records. I told them I was busy and had no time. They offered me $100 in store credit. I drove the 10 minutes to the store and took 2 seconds to give my fingerprint.

Turned around and uses that card for 400 rounds of 7.62x39. Not bad.

Tell them to make it worth your time for you to help correct their mistake.

If it were me, I wouldn't drive any distance more than 5 to 10 miles- medical condition or not - unless I were compensated for my time and mileage. It's their screw-up and you shouldn't have to pay for it.
