these rings, hold up to a 510 dtc??

hey guys, i just acquired a SS 16x to throw on top of my bohica far50 510dtc. i was originally gonna go with some burris XTR 30mm rings but these leupold rings came with the scope so i was wondering if the 50cal guys could chime in and let me know if these would work:

probably i just use 4 rings on my scope with my 50 for extra peace of mind

i have the burris XTR rings. while they look burly, i believe they are just tacticool. there are six screws holding the top of the ring on, they look really beefy and tacticool; however i believe the weak point would be teh nut holding the claws onto your rail. i dont have a gun that recoils enough to test that, just a 308 bolt gun and some loctite

check up on the 50/510 forums if you can

Stay with the Burris XTR 30mm rings. Leuplold fixed rings if you have an Armalite brake, not quick release.

The Leupold rings have a separate recoil lug, as you can see in the link posted. The Burris XTR use the cross-slot screw as a recoil lug, but improve it over most designs that do this by machining out a 90 degree cut in the shank to give a flat surface to seat against the slot face.

The plus of the Burris rings is more surface area per ring, so you don't have to go with 3 or 4 rings. It's got a 1/2" nut holding the clamp on, just like all the big boys do (Leupold Mk4, TPS, Badger, etc), so I'm not sure there's an issue with that. They are aluminum, so are much lighter than the high-end rings, but I don't know whether the loss in strength over steel is overcome by the raw size. The ultra-high rings have a lightening cut in the ring base, as well, which will reduce strength somewhat.

I'd definitely ask over at the 50 cal forums, as they'll have the real world data.

thanks for the info guys. looks like i'll be going with the burris xtr's in high (due to the lightening cuts in the x-highs) thanks.

I would use Badger rings for a caliber that big. Two pen six screw rings.
You will not have any problems with these rings.
Cost alot tho.

The rings in the link,I don't know. I think the recoil will shake them loose.

+1 on the Badger rings.

Badger, Nightforce, Burris Extreme as well as some really high end stuff are all good enough for the task at hand.

I am using the Burris Extreme for my .50 DTC. No problems so far BUT I have only shot it 23 times. I did check to make sure everything was still tight afterwards and it was. Most people seem to say its a good choice for 50s as well.

yup, from what i've read, they're the best "economical" choice that'll hold up to the recoil of the larger calibers.

Just get Badgers.
